SPOnG caught up earlier this week with the good people of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe for a quick chat about all things PlayStation and we are pleased to let you know that the frustrating post-E3 wait for proper information on our PlayStation future is just about to end, with the first in a series of major announcements being made this coming Monday from Leipzig.

We can assure you that this first unveiling will, shall we say, be something you are very unlikely to have foreseen, coming from way out of leftfield. Suffice to say it brought a smile to our face as we think it will do yours. Check in here first thing on Monday when we?ll be able to disclose the full details of this announcement, as well as picking up the first tasty news droppings from all the other publishers at Leipzig.

It would also seem that Sony has seriously taken on board the many criticisms targeted at the company following a poorly received E3 PlayStation 3 showing and done what it does best ? gone into lockdown mode whilst its development and marketing teams get on with the serious, hard work of ensuring that both the PS3?s technical offering and the marketing message are both spot on for the looming 17th November launch.
wonder what it could be

Wow sounds good.Hey maybe they have something up their sleaves it sure appears that way.Well I won't get my hopes up to much but sony knows how to let the cat out of the bag at the right time.Talk about marketing this should be some much needed great news. It's getting kinda slow around here lol.

Sony never said e306 was everything. That was just to give us most of the info.Look at the changes from E32005 to E3 2006 in one year they totally changed everything. Now don't get me wrong I'm not saying the ps3 is going to change much but I'm saying some surprises should be expected.Good article, keep us posted hade.

Im hoping its good news especially after this statement from the president of SCE
Quote:
We haven't started manufacturing yet. Some of our ops guys were actually just in China, and also in Japan just reviewing the [production] lines and everything else. But they are, again, preparing as we speak to get the manufacturing going. We've not announced and we haven't set really a specific date to say, "As of this day we're going to start manufacturing."

Dont let the door hit you on the way out, beacause I dont want ass prints on my new door!

Why does that statement matter so much? That's pretty normal actually. They are trying to fill the 2 million for launch quota they said they were aiming for and it appears they probably will however they never guaranteed it.

The parts such as the cell have been in production for sometime now it's just the full ps3 that he was refering to in that quote. That's the easy part the hard part was getting the cell yeild higher.

(oops dbl)

But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

Here's the latest Sony news from the Leipzig Games Convention today:

GC 2006: Sony Slips Europe the Pink One

Fleshy-toned PS2 and PSP set for unveiling by Sony at this week's Leipzig Games Convention.

by IGN UK Staff

UK, August 21, 2006 - Sony has peeled back the sheath of secrecy covering its latest PS2 and PSP incarnations - fleshy pink and primed for official unveiling at this week's Leipzig Games Convention.

Set for release in Europe only - at the time of writing - the limited edition pink PlayStation 2 will hit shelves on November 8 this year, bundled with two pink DualShock controllers and a pink Memory Card.
Why Europe only???? I want a pink one too!

I don't understand what that has to do with the ps3 though.Hades quote was clearly speaking of the ps3.I think sony should have released the pink one years ago if it was going to.Just seems like with the intro of ps3, ps2 is a bit late on the color thing.

p.s. my sister would love pink one too lol.

edit***ah well I didn't get my hopes up anyways lmao.

Yeah I don?t see why they would release one so close to the time of the ps3 release date. Everyone who really wanted a ps2 already had one. They may make a little extra money off of the pink idea but not much more then they would from a normal black ps2. Also is it the fat or slim ps2 that has pink on it or both? Oh but the pink on psp is pretty cool though. I have also seen a picture of a golden psp it was cool. And I think it was actual gold too!

http://news.spong.com/article/10614/Interesting+PlayStation+Annou...

here is another link that basically states the same thing

http://www.mozlapunk.net/homepage/?p=893
has the same link down below to SPOnG

now, to once again get things going many think the announcement will come on Wednesday as that is when sony is having press day
http://www.gc-germany.com/pressetermine_e.shtml

in all honesty pink seems to be the new red, quite a popular color. just look at the razr phones.

the link to the quoted info is now up and running again. i edited out the other post, but here it is again.

http://news.spong.com/article/10614/Interesting+PlayStation+Annou...

i've been around a few forums, and people seem to be under the impression that sony will reveal two announcements in the next few hours. some people on the sites were debating about staying up and waiting for the press release, checking game sites continuously. still makes me wonder what all this could be.....

Resistance: Fall of man reportedly takes up 22gigs of space on one Blu-ray disc!!! Now to me thats big news. They say that the reason it takes up this much space is thanks to high-res graphics and orchestral music.

Also, I guess whipping your controller triggers a melee attack using the butt of your gun.

Sorry if this isn't news to anyone, but this is pretty big news to me considering the concerns that the Blu-ray format has no benifit for games. Take that 360 and ur mere 8 gigs! This is prob gonna be the longest first person shooter ever!
