500 'backups' later, i decide im tired of having to swap discs halfway thru, so i install a 2nd DVDRW.

The plan is use the LG unit with the original disc, and place a blank into the Sony Unit, so Shrink does the rest.

I told shrink to select the Sony unit as the backup target so all good in that respect.

BUT, whereas my LG unit, would decrypt in bout 18 min then burn in 9-12 min, the Sony unit took 55 Min!

And the specs for the Sony unit are higher than the LG!

I do have the Sony operating as a slave to the LG, (with IDE cable), could this be the problem for the VERY slow writing speed?

ANy help appreciated

Drives that are on the same cable will default to the slowest drive in order for them to be compatible with one another. Could this be the case? Maybe it would make little bit of difference if you changed the jumpers on each drive as slave to the master and the master to the slave.
Be sure any speed test are re-ran on all drives too. (but I don't guess the programs mention have speed test.)

Hope you get an answer that works for you. Good Luck

Make sure that DMA is enabled for all drives, here is a guide:

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038

As sugggested make sure that the drive on the end or your IDE cable is set to master and the intermediate drive is set to slave, otherwise you will have some problems.
