Hi im gearing up to buy my PS3 and im getting all exited but im seeing everywhere that the Xbox is now selling for £199. From what I can see im going to be paying around £500 for my PS3 thats a £300 difference. Dont get me wrong i think Ps3 will be better but I dont want to waste money. So can someone reassure me im making the right decition and also give me some advise as to where the best place to pre order a Ps3 is in the UK?
Cheers

I personaly belive the ps3 is worth the money, I will buy it. But the "noob gamers" might go for the cheaper stuff (xbox360).

As far as the most "bang for your buck". 360 is easily the way to go for at least the next 2-3 years. Now after a price drop of the PS3 and maybe after the 2nd or 3rd gen PS3 games come out, that will probably change, but for now 360 is the way to go if you are on a budget

i Think u should get a ps3, the price drop they gave to the 360 was only 10 onds, big whoop
Look at the pros, You hav a machine that can play Blu-ray movies (if u care)
1: Has a web browser functionality
2: an easy simple user interface
3: alleged freee basic online play, so no paying $50 dollars a yr for xbox LIVE
4: reads mem cards
5: new tilt functionality
6: basically the same games as 360, unless you get all wet in the undies thinking about *(over-rated ^_^)* Halo 3
7: An insane Game library becuase of 100% backwards compatibilty with ps1 and ps2 games.
8: IT Has Final Fantasy XIII .....thats reason alone 4 me
9: IMHO the 1st generation games of the ps3 look just as good if not better than the 2nd generation of 360 games
10: built in wifi
11: connectivity for 7 bluetooth devices...which means to me....controllers, mouses, keyboards etc
so yeah there you go, hope that helps your decision
hit up youtube for vids on the games and the interface
i'm outtie

yep guys, the ps3 has major funcionality as a multimedia device and right now,it doesn't matter what people say,but for what it has,it's a damn good price!!! and ofcourse aslong as the 360 doesn't ever use HD-DVD,within a year,be ps3's games, that are multiplatform will look tons better than the 360's if they already don't...the PS3 is the way to go...

You should get the PS3 dont waste your time on the 360 which is guess to have a 4 year life span.DVD format is coming to a close,Saying that pretty much Doom 360 from the start. Also the backward-compatibility problem that they are so far behind on.You should check this link out that will make things clear to what you choice is.

The way I see it PS3 won't really be showing the really good stuff until Spring 2007 or later. I don't think there is any rush to get one at launch. I will get at least one, since I have it pre-ordered, but I'm mostly going to sell it on Ebay for big profits and buy another a few months later.

To be honest I reckon the PS3 has the better games and better graphics, but the only problem is the stupidly high price. I reckon you should save up for the PS3, but if possible get the Xbox 360 later on, as both have strong points.

There are pro's and con's for both 360 and PS3
at the moment I'm sticking with my 360 for about a year, waiting for the price of the PS3 to become a reasonable price.
I mean over £500 for a games console is a lot of money, ok it's got Blu ray but sony have failed in a past with a format battle, what happens if HD-DVD wins the battle at least you have an option to buy an extra HD drive got the Xbox.
at the moment I can stream HD films from my PC to my Xbox, I can use it to record TV, a lot of my friends have one so I can play on line with them and the games in the next few months look really good.
So my opinon is get a xbox 360 for a good price, play the hell out of it and sell it in a years time and get a PS3.

What some people got to keep in mind because its Cheaper(its not really cheaper than PS3 if you do the math) dont mean its better.I dont mind paying for something if its worth the money value. The only problem people have with PS3 is they dont know what Blu-ray is but give it 1 more year and Blu-ray will be in a over drive demand.

Thanks for the input, along side the HDTV I want to get aswell the whole package is going to cost me over £1700? That?s more than a top of the range p.c. Crazy times we live in but its got to be done. I feel sorry for all the normal kids out there that won?t be able to afford one and parents won?t buy them one hehe!! Least I can do some overtime to get mine maybe about 72 hours worth will cover it?? Although (sorry to babble on here but....) I remember when I was about 14 (12 years ago) I bought the super Nintendo with street fighter 2 and I paid £160 pounds for that. 12 years ago 160 pounds was allot of money!! Also I remember seeing a super famicon selling for £400 back in the day. ALSO!! When I was 16 and I used to work in a games shop we had the first nintendo64 in Derby it was a jap import and sold for over £600 and that was 10 years ago so I guess gamers will pay allot of money to get what they want so I guess people (like me) will pay for PS3 as they are a trusted brand. So maybe price is irrelevant in the console war maybe it?s all about quality?
(Still babbling but im taking a trip down memory lane here) I remember back in the games shop there was a console called the jaguar and that was £600 pound I think it was the first 32 bit console out but the games were sh*t and no one bought it.
Anyway after thinking about it I now answer my own question and now believe price means nothing and quality of product will win me over. I prefer Sony?s JAP quality so will stick with them. I?ve lost track of what I was talking about now and im off to bed.
What will you lot be buying in the coming months cheapo Xbox or PS3??
CYA!!
P.S one more thing!!
Also consider how many P.c gamers have spent £000's buying and upgrading thier hardware they dont grumble (or do they?). I know P.c's do more than 1 thing n all that but its just a point.
Anyway bye!

well yes sony is jap products,or it's seen as it anwyay, but even though it's jap,the console itself is not made in jap,but yet it's made from difrrent parts of asia,i mean ms is america, but my 360 was made in taiwan or thailand or something..lol..anyway just thought i'd correct you,teh design is from japan, but the actuall product is not made in japan,it's not cost effective...
