I have been making numerous backups of movies using Shrink and Nero 7+.

For some reason, the burn process has really slowed down. I usually burn at 4 or 6 times. Burns should take no more than 12 minutes. Some take nearly 20+ minutes. I have a high end Computer with a gig of memory. I use good TG disks. Anyone know why my burns are suddenly slowing way down?

Hi FBlack
TG discs - Taiyo Yuden?
Check & make sure you are in DMA mode & not PIO. Also make sure DMA is listed under 'current transfer mode'

Posting the last Nero log might be a good idea too. You can find it here: program files>nero>nero 7>core>nerohistory.
Just be sure to edit out the serial # - usually begin w/ 1A, 1C or 5C.

20 minutes isn't really that slow, burning to disk using Nero or clonedvd2 at 4x, it usually takes me approx 14 minutes. If you're really concerned, start looking at you're drive's DMA setting to make sure they haven't reverted to the slower PIO mode.

here are some guides if needed:

How to enable DMA for IDE controller

or

Make sure your drive's firmware is upto date, especially if you've switched media type (stick to good quality stuff made in japan).

You can check for an update (if available) here:

Also posting a Nero log would be helpful.

EDIT: Hi binkie, I see you got in ahead of me again :)

Good to be posting again. I've been gone for a while because of alot of changes that have taken place in my life. The biggest and most hard to deal with was losing my job due to my company's acquisition and dreaded cutbacks. It was tough for a while not knowing what my tomorrows would bring, but after finding a new job and getting back on my feet again (financially and emotionally), I feel good about posting again. I'm sure that being gone for a while has made me alittle rusty, but getting back up to speed shouldn't take long especially with pros like you helping ;).
