As stated by 300bowler "Sounds like a protection problem"
Chances are that it's indeed a copy protection issue that shrink can't handle. There are alot of ways to get around this, which one to try, well the choice is yours.
Here are some suggestions..
You can:
****Download a free ripper/decrypter called DVDFab decrypter and install it. Use DVDFab to rip the video files to your hard drive, then open the files using DVD Shrink (use the open files tab and browse to where the VIDEO_TS folder created by DVDFab is located and choose it) , process the files as usual using shrink.
**You can try using a free app called ripit4me (not my favorite, but that's only my opinion), a good thing about this app is that it will allow you to keep the menus. You can get the app and directions on use from the link below provided by arniebear.
Last, but not least....
$$$--for a small price *****Download and install AnyDVD (free for 21 days), once installed you can simply use DVD Shrink as you normally would to create a backup. AnyDVD will run in the backround helping DVD Shrink crack the copy protection on the disk.
thanks for the replies...here's the thing, the same movies runs fine on my other PC. Same movie, same Shrink version.i'm running AnyDVD in the background on both
I am experiencing the same issue, just installed DVD Shrink, Nero and AnyDVD, all current except for Shrink of course, on a brand new laptop. I grabbed a backup copy of Poseidon that was laying there and tried to copy it on the new machine. Shrink read it in and when I clicked on "Back Up" it sat for a second or two and then exited the program completely with no sort of message. As I am typing this I suddenly realize that I need to try it on an original disk to see if it has the same result, I will let you know but in the mean time has anyone else seen this......Thanks, Mike
