thats good to hear.
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

Yes indeed that's good news for me because it's my most anticipated game for ps3.This is one reason the extra space on the blu ray is so important.

Not trying to start anything, but did you guys hear the 360 is going to upscale to 1080p with an update.
Is upscaling not-so-good?
Will the PS3 upscale or is it native?
Can you achieve 1080p without an HDMI cable?

its more of a new version of xbox 360, with small differences like hdmi cable, 1080p and i think internal hd dvd.
PS3 specs may look better than xbox 360 but i am yet to see a game on the PS3 that looks better than any of the top end xbox 360 games such as gears of war, mass effect and halo 3.

There's actually no HDMI, internal HD-DVD and the 1080p is with a software update..

yeah fninja, what were you thinking? read the news. its a software update, but i believe upscaling lower quality uses fuzzy logic, but im not certain. upsacaled images do not compare to official ones. just like if you change a 16-bit 64kbps sound file to a 24-bit 320kbps it sounds little different.

I never got involved with the format/resolution war, IMHO it's a load of rubbish. 1080p upscaled, 720, 1080p etc. all look the same to me. The only resolution I don't use is interlaced.
I can't justify the resolutions, until I see the various resolutions side by side (which I plan on doing).

i have, and let me tell you they really dont look identice. but id say if real 1080p was 100%, upscaled would be about 80%. its kinda hard to nice anything when you see em separate (unless you know what you are looking for) but next to eachother you see a little pixelation and those random lakes (mishapen blob of slightly off color if you know what i mean, not large or major but there) and the outlines are not as sharp at all.

"yeah fninja, what were you thinking? read the news."
well what i said in my last post was the news as far i had read anyway, but obviously there had been an update on it that i had not yet seen.
as for the upscaling to 1080p, well i never really needed that, but i supose it will be a nice.
i just need to ask one thing, i have read in many places that gears of war and some other games will be in 1080i but on most forums depates about this topic people always say xbox 360 - 720p and ps3 - 1080p but i thought it would be xbox 360 - 1080i

The Games are not going to be truely 1080p this is just a cheap way of saying hey we got games in 1080p when truely they dont. This is the same as a upconvert DVD player the movies are not in 720p or 1080i they upscale the picture to reach that rez but the DVD was not encoded to be 720p,1080i or 1080p.PS3 games going to encoded in full 1080p not upscaled.

damon said it all :). ps3, i am oh so excited to wrap my hands around you!
360 isn't that bad of a system, but it made the same mistake dreamcast did. this upscaling bs is all for them to justify what they don't have and offer something so it doesn't make ps3 seem superior.

i had a dream it was released, and had so many cool games that compelety utilized the tilt in such a way that all other versions of the games not exclusive to the ps3 for pc and 360 sold far less than the ps3 counterpart, and the sales dominated every other console. no clue why tho, maybe a prediction? maybe i shouldn't visit the forums when im dead tired at 3 am before sleep?

i could see games using the tilt and other ps3 abilities well outselling their wii or 360 counterparts, but not pc. pc base is so much larger, but in console owners vs h.e. pc owners, console owners dominate. so maybe it will happen. ah well, it would be cool to watch myself be correct, but with all thats happened, time can only tell if sony can pull this off well. if the launch went smoother with less probs and they ket their word, the ps3 would have flooded the market even at its price with they hype sony knows how to build.

Isn't it only FIRST-PARTY Sony games that will be in 1080p?

damondash's last post hit the nail right on the head.High res without high res textures isn't high res lol.Trust me there would be huge differences in quality.
But either way without the additional space the 360 can't touch it anyways.Resistance will use uncommpressed high res textures which explains it's huge file size and it will be nativiely 1080p.
@oedekerk no I can see the first year being mostly 1st party games but eventually most will be 1080p.Just look at the xbox 1 the first games were NOT hd ready but after about the first year they all started being 1080i/720p enabled. Not to mention the devs will want to fill those bluray discs up because they are so expensive.
No developer is gonna pay 20 bucks per 25gb disc to put 3gb on it.That's just stupid and you know how cheap the devs are.

Ahh.. no probs.
If Blu-ray holds 50gb and the PS3 supports 1080p, what would be the reason NOT to use the resolution? Does it affect development time?

Actually I just looked at my xbox games and they say 480p... sorry lol.I don't what I was thinking with that one but I could have sworn halo2 was 720p.I stand corrected. But the rest of thet post is up to snub.
So anyway the single layer brd's hold 25gb and those will be the ones used on ps3.There isn't any reason not to use it which is precisely the point. As far as developement time I'm no expert but they used to have to compress the textures down etc so actually it may speed dev time up a little becuase won't need to do that anymore.

I'm just wondering why THIRD PARTY dev's are not making 1080p games and what's restricting them? (at the moment anyway)

Lol that's true and even first party games for that matter. There is rumors(like virtua tennis) but I don't like to put to much into that.I give some credit to ms for the update though, although not what it seems most won't know what damondash said.At least they have given something for the resolution fix and for free,so I can't complain.

I can't comment on the quality of service from Sony, because I have yet to experience (or know someone that has experienced) there Next-Gen offering.
But (fanboyism aside), the service I have experienced with the 360 has been 1st class.
I've never had to replace the console in the 6 months I've had it, it doesn't crash. Games that have lag/bugs, receive update-fixes, we're getting 1080p with an update, background d/l-ing with an update, game demo's to d.l etc. I almost can't keep up.
I hope Sony takes a leaf out their book and shows the same respect to the PS3 market. I envision everything they do is just to make a quick buck, but doesn't offer the service required for a feel-good product. ON THE OTHER HAND, they have a cutting-edge side to them where they may be offering a never-before-seen powerhouse.
I've seen nothing as yet, to sway me one way or another.
Maybe some 1080p in-game footage will change that, we'll see.

My xbox360 has ran smoothly for about 5 months now.I've never had any problems but I've heard lots of people with problems.I suppose all consoles will have some unlucky people with bad units.
I like the updates ms has offered too.At the same time sony will be offering all or most of those with there free online service. There all out to make a buck off of us lol.To them it's business.
Here's some trailers of resistance(although not in 1080p)I wish they still had the 720p one but they took it down
