I'm using DVD Shrink 3.2 to re encode dvd files to an ISO image and burn it. DVD Shrink says it completes it sucessfully, and I burn the iso to the dvd, when I put it in my PS2, xbox 360 and DVD player (meaning its not the consoles or players) it does the same thing on each one:
The menu comes up, fully functional, and I can navigate from the title menu to other menus (subtitle menu, chapter selection etc.) But when I hit Play, or select a chapter to play, The audio for the dvd starts, but then the menu freezes and just stays on the screen. So basically the title will not play, only the audio track from it. Anyone have any idea why this is happening, and how do I fix it? I have to have the file in ISO format. Also anyone know any other program that i could use to quickly reencode dvd video files to ISO, and maybe not have this problem?
You don't state what brand of media you're using and at what speed you're writing to disk, so..
Try using a better brand of disks like Sony (DVD+Rs), verbatims, Taiyo yuden.
Try burning no faster than 4x.
Note: Make sure all the devices you state have support for and play the media you use.
Also make sure your burner is running the latest version of firmware. You can check here and download an update if needed;

Just enter your burners model# in the search field to check.
Thanks for the insight. It's not a media problem though. I tried burning on my Plextor PX-716A, as well as on my NEC ND3550A Burned @ 8x, I burn with my systems @ 16x all the time with NO problems. Used Ritek 16x DVD-R and then tried Taiyo Yuden 16x DVD-R as well, both @ 8x, same problem. Definately not a compatibility issue between the media and my consoles, I've used them PLENTY of times with great results. It's something in the dvd files. Here's what I've tried:
DVD Decrypter to ISO image burn iso with Nero 7 - same problem
Dvd decrypter to video files on hard disk, burn dvd-video with Nero 7 - same problem
Dvd decrypter to video files on hard disk, convert to ISO w/ DVD Shrink - same problem
DVD Decrypter to video files on hard disk, reencoded with dvd rebuilder - same problem
Dvd decrypter to video files on hard disk, convert to ISO with Folder2Iso - same problem
Source disc is not faulty, it works fine in all consoles.
Looking for an alternative to DVD Decrypter as that might be the problem with this particular backup.
backup is already a DVD5 so it needs no compression.
I am thinking if I get something like DVDRemake Pro I can reauthor the dvd and preserve menu functionality. Anyone know of any freeware that's comparable?
