Sorry...let me try this again! I am a newbie member slowly moving in the direction to intermediate. Here's what I do and then here's the problem. I record mystery programs on Biography and PBS using my DirecTv DVR r-15. I then play and record the program using my JVC DVD Recorder onto DVD-RW. I then rip the files to a folder in My Documents. I later open DVD Shrink, click on the OPEN FILES button. Then I select the folder containing the files, then click OK. The following error message appears: DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue. Failed to open file "C:\Documents and Settings\my name\My Documents\Poirot\VIDEO_TS.IFO" The system cannot find the file specified. I suspect the answer is simple! Could someone please tell me what to do; maybe SCUBAPETE! Many thanks!

Taking a stab in the dark here, but ...

DVD shrink looks for the folder named VIDEO_TS in order to locate the video files which contains the VIDEO_TS.IFO file (this file contains video structure info). The video_ts folder should contain .ifo, .bup. and .vob files like this;

Your stated path shows...
C:\Documents and Settings\my name\My Documents\Poirot\VIDEO_TS.IFO

I don't see the VIDEO_TS folder in the path info, I'm assuming the files are in the Poirot folder, if so, try renaming the Poirot folder to VIDEO_TS, then use shrink to open the files with and see if that does it.

The path might look like this...
C:\Documents and Settings\my name\My Documents\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO

Note: you might also want to process the files thru FisVTS first before opening them with shrink to correct any file structure problems that shrink is unhappy with.
