I have actually found a way to rewind the DVD without buying one of those rewinder's... Just use one of your old disk spindles... Yeah put your DVD on there and then as fast as you can with your finger (while pressing down hard) spin the disk in a counter clockwise direction 50 times. The disk wil then be rewound.. Also unplayable therefore undetectable.. ;-)
If you want to cut down on the amount of times to spin the disk simply stick a small piece of sandpaper or steel wool on the spindle first

Think what you want but I assure you this is all VERY VERY True. I was takin in for questioning two weeks ago as that is why I havent been around to respond/ Luckily I keep all my criminal evidence at my girlfriends house so they had nothing to get me with. It just a matter of time before the feds show up at your door, if you are lucky you will just get a supena and just pay a fine, but that depends on how many backups you made.

Just label your DVD backups with an invisible ink Sharpie from BestBuy(BB?) and the Feds will think all your backups are new blanks. No need for a retail or bbmayo homemade device.

me, i'd attach disk to a drill & put it in reverse. works wonders!!! how do you think they reverse car odometers at used car dealerships!!

Here are 3 options:
1 - Tape the disk to one of your car wheels. Make sure to tape it so that it is spinning in the reverse direction of your DVD burner. Presto....it's rewound by the time you arrive back at Blockbuster.
2 - Use that Scratch Doctor device prior to returning the disk to Blockbuster. Make sure you perform at least 10 passes of the disk! This will surely deactivate the device. If not, I'm sure Blockbuster will throw the disk in the trash. (You who have used the device know what I'm talking about.)
3 - Take a speaker magnet from at least a 12 inch subwoofer. Pass the magnet across the disk at least once. To ensure proper demagnification of the device, make several passes over the disk. I'm sure that after you do this, Blockbuster won't be able to detect the device having been enabled. Hell, they probably won't be able to detect anything on the disk. LOL
On a serious note, I'm scared to even play one of their disks on my computer for fear that it may accidentally activate the device. I don't rent and burn DVDs, but if my computer drive spins too fast while I'm watching one of their device-enabled disks, it may inadvertantly set it off. Then I'm screwed!

OK this brown stuff as someone called it earlier is getting a little to deep... LOL
Why would anyone even think that Block Buster would put a chip into a disk that can tell if it has been copied, and if so it would be totally impossible to do!! All your DVD laser is doing is reading the disk just as if you were watching it on a DVD player. Nothing physically touches the disk or burns something into it so logic would tell you this would be impossible.This is actually quite ridiculous that any one would even ask this question is why all the sarcasim on here about it, but I am begining to believe that some people actually believe that BB puts some sort of chip or tracking device in there DVD's. Second why the hell would BB give two hoot's if you were copying there DVD's? Think about it...... They are not the movie studios, and they would actually loose a lot of cutomers if they did that because those people out there that are renting and copying there movies (which is no one here I hope) would just take there buisness else where like Mom & Pops Video rental. Thats all beside's the point there is no such device it's all ficton people!!! :-)

Thats pretty much the conclusion I've come to. I mentioned this pages ago in the thread, yet people keep posting here claiming how real it is. The only protection I could see viable is the kind they have with audio CDs now, where if you have autostart enable on your computer, the DVD could install a small program to disable ripping. but a trace "chip"? c'mon people....think. DVDs have ones and zeros....no chips!

Some bad news announced today on CNN. Hollywood Video is starting to incorporate a chip in all of the DVD's they are offering with one big exception. It also has a magnetic field that codes your HD if ripping software is even detected. So it records and also places a trail as to where the disk has been. Once they restock in their rented DVD the chip memory is processed into their servers and kept for reference and also made available to the FBI. There is no know remedy to bypass this chip at the present time.

this is just smoke they are blowing to scare everybody. IF, and thats a BIG, HYPOTHETICAL IF, this is true, how does the DVD detect there is ripping software on the computer? Even if there is a magnetic chip, that can't detect it, and neither can the 1s and 0s on the DVD. And what do you mean code your HD? The DVD or or magnetic chip wouldn't have the capability to scan the HD. If it could, what would it store on the chip? Name? that could be false. IP Address? they can get that anyways. They wouldn't have much proof as to what you actually have. time to wake up and smell the coffee. Like I said, someone show me some damn proof, like a picture of one and detailed specs as to what it does. This is just getting ridiculous. You do know that gullible isn't in the dictionary, right?

I really wish my electron microscope had picture capabilities. That's why I got it so cheap on e-bay. As I said before, I saw this damn thing on one of Blockbuster's disks.
And I mentioned checking recently updated files on my hard drive. See my previous post. I'm serious about this.
THANK GOD I don't rent and burn DVDs! If I did, I would be screwed. I mean, that .log file I found freaked me out. Big brother has the means and the incentive.
I'm going to do some further research.
Sure, I'm being sarcastic about the electron microscope deal, but I'm serious about the .log file I found!!!
I'm not quite sure the method being incorporated. I really don't know if there's a microchip embedded or not, but I believe their disks may have a hidden executable file on them. This executable runs a non-detectable program when you insert it in your DVD drive. It really wouldn't matter if you have a DVD burner or ROM. This program probably keeps track of the programs you are running on your system. Of course, big brother keeps current on all the available burning programs. When you open one of these ripping programs, the program easily detects what disk you're viewing. This is easy because of the encoded disk name given at the factory. I'm sure you've seen it when you've created ISO files in the past. Hell, even DVD Shrink knows the name of the disk you've inserted in your drive. Then the program probably sees what you do with the disk. It must then update that .log file with data about whether you ripped the movie or not. Then when you connect to the internet, the data is on its way.
Pretty simple!
Even though I don't rent and rip, I'm afraid that big brother is keeping track of how much porn I watch. Who knows. He probably knows my credit card numbers, passwords to all the sites I visit, has pictures of me and my family, etc. He may even put me on his watch list for viewing movies like "Hannibal", "Helter Skelter", "Copy Cat", and "Silence of the Lambs".
I can't feel safe in my home anymore. I think my house is bugged. My car must have a tracking device on it. Big Brother is keeping track of how many times I go to the movie store. I've got to get a rental car when I go to Blockbuster anymore. And God forbid I visit the DVD media section of Best Buy more than once per year. He's keeping track of all my credit card activities. He's even got my password to my Best Buy reward zone account. What can I do to get away from all this??? I look over my shoulder now every time I go outside. I've lined my house walls with aluminum foil and lead. I even painted the exterior of my house with lead based paint. I have installed electromagnets to the windows of all my vehicles. I make only left turns when I am driving. I mean, who would follow me that far out of the way to get where I need to go. Sometimes, I drive for hundreds of miles just to get around the block to where I need to go. I....don't....want....to....make....that....right...turn....I constantly check my hard drive for recently modified files now. And I always check that .log file to be sure my DVD Rom hasn't inadvertently stored false data from a movie I've innocently watched in here. I'm thinking of setting up an appointment with a plastic surgeon to change my looks from the pictures big brother has downloaded from my computer. And I'm living under an assumed name now.
What am I to do? I think I need a labotamy!
