I had one customer come into the store and ask me for the fastest burner possible for DVD's (showed him the 16x Benq we had at the time), the software that would enable the burner to go into overdrive mode while burning to make it faster (lord knows why, but I didn't argue), and the cheapest 100 pack of blank DVDs we had (at the time they were something called Msonic or Vosk... can't recall). He didnt care about anything else, just those three requirements. I guess he wanted to kick out copies as fast as humanly possible.
Two days later he comes back in with everything screaming about how he cant get good copies because they freeze, glitch, pixelate, wont run, and his discs come out extremely warm. Almost hot he said.
I hooked up the burner to a tower we had close by... popped a blank dvd in (not the ones he had) and it worked fine. I think I used a Sony disc we had available for this sort of thing. Tested out the software, and while it didnt really increase speed burns, the media worked fine yet again as well as the burner.
Theeeen we tried the media he bought. We went through a dozen (12) discs and not one of them worked. You could almost hear the burner crying for mercy when it ejected another bad disc. Poor thing.
Everytime you use bad media, God kills a kitten with old Princo disks. Please, think of the kittens...
Courage is not the absence of fear; it is the presence of fear, yet, the will to go on.
