Libcrypted psx games?

Is that like when Metal Gear Solid tells me not to pirate when I made a copy of it? I tried to make a copy off my friend's cuz I wanted to relive my youth. Anyone know how to make a good copy of that awesome classic?

I have no idea what libcrypted means.

What exactly are you trying to do with this copy of MGS? How did you copy it? CloneCD should do the trick. Be sure to make an image with subchannel data and to burn it at a slow speed (1-4x preferred). I'm sure others will insist using CDRWin which will work but I don't have the steps for you at this time.

If you are trying to play on an original Playstation with plug-in modchip, of course it depends which modchip, but the game should work flawlessly. If you are trying to play it on your PS2, you will need something that is like SwapMagic.

Tokijin suggests:
Quote:
14. Q. How do I burn PS2 CD-ROM based games?
A. Use Alcohol 120%.
Ripping the game to your Hard Drive:
1. Open Alcohol 120%.
2. Insert the disk you wish to create the image from in your CD-ROM drive. Click image making wizard.
3. Set the read speed to 1x, check ignore read errors, fast skip error blocks, leave the write method alone, select your recorder, set the write speed to 4x, and set the datatype to PS2.
4. Click next.

Burning the game to CD-R:
1. Once the image is created you'll have an mdf and an mds file. Click finish if necessary.
2. Insert your blank CD-R.
3. Right click the mdf file and go to image burning wizard. Set the write speed to 4x, leave the write method alone, set the data type to PS2, select your recorder, and click next.

15. Q. How Do I burn PSX games?
A. Same method except set the datatype to Playstation.

16. Q. What do I need to play PSX backups?
A. Modchip or Breaker Pro: http://breakerpro.com/
I also found this which I have not tried:

taiyo yuden + nec-nd3550a + scph300001 + magic swap 3.6 = :)

Well that'll work with non mod protected PSX games. Unless you're using a modchip that bypasses PSX mod protection, then you need to patch it. Yes that message you're referring to is what happens when you try to play a 1:1 copy of a mod protected game on a modded console. You need to patch the image file with PPFomatic to remove the mod protection.

46. Q. How do I burn PSX mod protected games?
A. First you'd need know if the game is mod protected: http://www.go.to/psxcplist http://www.megagames.com/psx/psx_protected_games.shtml
Then you'd need to download the patch: http://www.megagames.com/psx/psx_patches.shtml
Then you patch it with PPFomatic: http://www.megagames.com/psx/psx_ppf.shtml#PPF-O-Matic
Then you burn it to CD-R with CDRWIN: http://goldenhawk.com/
PPF and CDRWIN tutorial: http://www.go.to/psxcplist
In some rare cases you may download a mod protected game that's not in .bin format. For those you'd need to burn the game to disc using the Alcohol %120 guide for PSX games posted earlier. Then you'd use CDRWIN to extract a .bin file to your HD. From there continue as normal. Note: This process can also be used to patch PSX PAL games to NTSC and vice versa with PPFomatic.

well sorry, big dnas lists are NTSC PAL and jap... and PAL and jap are reletively harder to obtain on titles that aren't as popular.

Thanks a lot for the new ID of MGS subsistance!
But I had 2 DNAS Errors while using different method to insert the disc ID in the iso:
-First I got 402 meaning Invalid disc, by extracting the DNAS300.IMG file, patching it with disc id inserter, and reinjecting in the iso with Winimage
-Then as I kept the modified iso after burning it, I checked it with windip, and weirdly it did not found the ID I put in the 1st time. So I put another ID in the range of XX XX 01 30 BC with windip, and patched the iso. And with the burned dvd, I got 880 meaning hardware incompatibility... Could somebody tell me how to solve this please ?

@lxfactor, if you are talking about the DVD 1 and 2 of MGS subsistence, as the online mode is in the DVD2, it's from there that I extracted well the file DNAS300.IMG and patched it. But maybe the 880 error I'm getting comes from a wrong console and Ilink US NTSC IDs I had to put into my ps2 as it's formerly a PAL.

Negative, I'm aware this is the NTSC list, and the MGS I patched is NTSC too.

@jpnn80 If your console/ilink ID has been used too much, it may have been banned permanently. Can you get online with any other games?

@LiARLiAR Use Windip. If that fails, try WinImage or Disc ID Insertor.

20. Q. What are DNA's?
A. Any game made after 2003 for the PS2 that is online playable contains one or more image files that has a "disk
DNA checker." The online game server checks your game disk to see if it's the real thing or not. Thus, you have to discover which .img file on the game disc has the checker file.

21. Q. How do I patch DNA's?
A. http://www.ps2nfo.com/on-line.html
With Windip (recommended): http://forums.psxforum.com/viewtopic.php?p=117528

Windip: http://www.sksapps.com/online/WinDIPv1.7.zip

22. Q. Where can I find DNA ID's?
A. NTSC-US: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/198137
Updated NTSC DNA's thread: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/291526
PAL: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/199101C

Thanks, actually I got it to work too, because I realized when I changed my Ids, I confused one digit and forgot another one! And I kept my unique ps2 digits which passed the DNAS check, by reading a very knowledgeable explanation from SKSApps author here, on which some digits are the only ones concerning NTSC/PAL region ID:

Hey, so I patched a game for the first time. Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence. I replaced the first two pairs of XX's with stuff between 0-9 and A-F, and then the last three pairs with 00 30 BC like I was supposed to. So I think I did that all right. I burnt the game and it loaded fine and everything. But when I select the online mode the screen goes black and I get the red "Please insert a Playstation 2 format disc" screen. Why did thhis happen? The same thing happens when I try to play Jin's Devil mode on a burnt copy of Tekken.

Is it because I patched it wrong, or Swap Magic doesn't work? I use Swap Magic USA build version 2.0

Thanks

It could be a media issue, what's the Media ID of the discs you're using?

91. Q. What is the Media ID of a DVD and how can I find it?
A.The Media ID of a DVD is the true measure of it's quality. It contains prerecorded info about the disc's manufacturer. The quality of the disc will vary depending on the media code. The media code isn't visible on the disc or the packaging. To check the media ID, Open DVD Decrypter, insert your disc, and check what it says under Media ID or Manufacturer ID. You can also use a program called DVD Identifier which is very useful. You can find it here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_id...
Compare the Media ID to this link: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

From PS2nfo's DNA Errors Guide: -612 NET_DNS_TRY_AGAIN
The DNS resolver cannot be found. "DNAS Error (-612) A network error has occurred." Please double-check your network connection and/or network configuration.

@ TrieuDL I already asked you what the Media ID of those discs are. Reread my post and post the info.
