Lol. Yeah mine's showing signs of age. Either the laser is dying on the CD reading side, or it only likes Memorex media, probably a combo of the two. I've made so many coasters the last couple days trying to backup PSX games, it's silly. Really aggravating, oh well, have to determine if it's the media or the laser. I've tried Sony, Taiyo Yuden, and I can't even get those to boot. I cleaned the laser like two weeks ago, DVD's still read fine, so who knows? Quite aggravating. Anyway, off topic, congrats on the sticky, way overdue. Hopefully people won't ask about the password anymore.

Thanks, yeah hopefully people will read to the bottom of the post before clicking the links, LOL :)
With the CD problem you have, what speed are you burning at? and what program? - i'm not saying I know more than you or anything, LOL.. I just want to suggest something maybe?
My PS2 is about 5-6 years old now.. and still runs great.. but to be fair, for the first 3-4 years of me having it I didn't use it that much, it was only after I got home from OZ and modded it that I started to play it much.. I think my laser will be OK for a good few years yet.. and I keep my PS2 clean.. you should see the state the PS2s I've modded come in looking like.. LOL.. some of them have dust all over the place, cigareette ash sometimes too.. I charge them more for cleaning up sh*t like that.
Anyway, good luck with the PSx backups man..... later

I've tried Alcohol 120%, Nero, CDRWIN, burning at 12x (lowest my burner supports). Most of my old memosux backups work okay, I can't get Sony's or TY's to boot much at all. It's kinda annoying, no one thing I can put my finger on. Breath of Fire 4 wouldn't work at all on the most current MI firmware, I downgraded to MI FW 1.82 and it worked maybe 30% of the time, didn't make any difference for Lunar the Silver Star. I tried two different versions of Lunar, no dice, unfortunately, almost all BitTorrent rips are identical with PSX games, the same torrents are floating around everywhere. Diablo and Tales of Destiny 2 were giving me probs, the latter was always sketchy, another questionable rip. Diablo would lock up at the initial loading screen. I think it's a combo of crappy image rips and my laser getting old. DVD's still seem to load fine, better the CD side go than DVD's. If it wouldn't read DVD's, well then...
I don't mind suggestions, maybe I'm just overlooking something.

You could always try converting to DVD instead of CD.. then see if that works better.. never done that myself, but might be worth a go?
Yeah it sounds as if it could be your laser getting a bit more picky in it's old age... you could also try loading it onto the HDD, you have one right? and booting it with hd loader or whatever.. I can't remember what the MI chip will do when it comes to PSx?

I actually tried that with Lunar, though I think PSX games have LBA checks, if it's on another format than CD, it won't work. Not positive on that, but seem to remember reading that somewhere. No I don't have a HD, the only way to play PSX isos off a HD is with USB Extreme/Advance, and that's a giant waste of money. I have at least one other confirmed report of BOF4 and Lunar not working with the MI on the current firmware, so that leads me to believe it's a firmware/media/laser issue. Any combo of the three is possible at this point, further testing required.

That sucks.. and shows how little I know about PSx, LOL.. didn't think about the media check at all.

No worries man, if it was that easy to solve, I wouldn't be stumped. I'll figure it out, haven't emptied my whole clip yet. Worse comes to worse, I'll pick a up a cheap copy used.

OK, will have to re-upload the links at some point.. some a-hole went and reported the links to rapidshare and they deleted them.. even the ones that are freeware or shareware?? strange huh??
I'll get to it as soon as I can.. but then again no-one even bothers saying thankyou for hosting them anymore anyway so don't know if anyone wants them?

Oh well, there's always gonna be some nutjob that thinks it's funny to delete/report someone's stuff, LOL
And it only took me around 10-30 mins to re-upload them anyway.. and some were still working.

Okay ive searched for this problem for some time now and with no avail...This is my delema...I'm trying to back up my copy of final fantasy 12 (i have tried others also with the same problem coming up) when i create an ISO file with Decrypter i get a 3.78gig image but when i go to use isobuster to extract it i get 5.39megs with all the extracted files after using isobuster....I have not had this problem before and have backed up many of my games but now it keeps turning gigs into small megs....And yes i have reinstalled Isobuster and yes it was from a full disk not downloaded from the net what is the deal does ANYONE have an awnser for this?? PLEASE HELP!!
Also tried it with Stae of Emergency same problem 4+gigs down to around 4 Megs.
I like to rebuild my games cause if i find one that skips or the sound is bad rebuilding them makes them flawless. i have backed up roughly 100 ps2 games without any problems whatsoever until now.
Using a 2.2 gig AMD Athlon with a 16X dual layer DvD Burner A gig of Ram and 180 gig Hard Drive.
Any Help Would Be Great
Matt
