I'm 18 and I'm in my senior year. Already got into a technical college. Gonna start a business for PC repair.

I'm not ready for these kinds of responsibilities.

I'm tired of being poor.

I'm tired of giving up my paycheck every week to buy groceries.

I'm tired of fighting with my parents all the time

I'm tired of people assuming I'm stupid

I'm tired of people assuming I'm lazy.

I'm tired of going to a remedial school so I have time to work.

I'm tired of being labelled the school loser in a fricking remedial school.

I'm tired of my parents talking about selling the '71 Nova that we worked 12 years on.

I'm tired of the fricking credit card companies calling at all hours of the day and night.

I'm tired of having only 3 pairs of pants and 6 shirts to last me all week

I'm tired of people pointing out that I have the same pants on 2 days in a row

I'm tired of people at school trying to start fights with me

I'm tired of being a chain smoker

I'm tired of selling my PC parts so we can pay bills.

I'm tired of not being able to have friends over because there's no food.

I'm tired of said friends living 4 hours away.

I'm tired of being exhausted all the time

I'm tired of coming home and having just as much stress and grief as I do at work and school.

I'm just tired.
Sounds like you are an adult...welcome to the real world. Based on your posts I would say you are pretty mature. I think you have a good attitude and if you keep it up all this will make you a better person. Keep your chin up and everything will be fine.

Good luck.

Man this is one that YOU have control over. You may not think so, but you do. I know it's costing a fortune if you really do chain smoke! You can quit!! And feel better. I did 7 years ago. Hang in there Estuansis, we're all pulling for you. As LOCO said the real world IS tough!

The chain-smoking is one thing that has been improving lately. Down to half a pack a day vs 1 1/2 a couple weeks ago. I think it was the stress :(

I now have $2000 in hand. I'll go make a deposit on Monday and start clothes shopping online. I want to get some button fly BDUs as I cannot make jeans last more than a few months. I think I've found the ones I want. $19.95 a pair(50% off) makes no difference to me as long as they have a button fly. I need some shirts really badly too. Off to Hot Topic for band shirts :D

Eh, things are moving along slowly here. Mom and Dad have decided to take it easy today and start making plans. I think that's a good idea. We're going to do some major grocery shopping on Monday or Tuesday and fill our kitchen completely :D

My sister lent them some $6000 and she's trying to collect on that. Being real pissy about it too. She thinks that they're loaded now... she's got another thing coming. She's 23 and still living at home. Always has a fridge packed full of food. Comes in and eats our food. ALWAYS leaves food sitting out. Yells at us when we eat her food... there are more issues than that. But my dad has made it clear that she can wait until we get our disability settlement. She doesn't need the money(50" HD TV, 800W surround, laptops, ipods, cameras, Xbox 360, Wii, and really expensive shoes, clothes, socks) I actually did need money.

If I had it my way I'd kick her out ;D But eh, she's family so I gotta put up with her :)

What a b***h. I know that's rude for a forum and rude about family, but some people really make me steam. Try not to let it stress you out though, I think your point about the smoking is very true. Keep a level head and you'll feel so much better for it.

A bit rude but not unfounded. Yeah, she's been nothing but a pain through this whole ordeal. Always nosing into things and running her mouth. But she's in college(and she's family) so we let her live here. She's not pure evil, but she can really be a b***h when she wants to be.

Estuansis a heads up on something you could do with some of that money is, get a used rideing lawnmower, a push mower a weedeater and a leaf blower and do lawnmowing on the side, verry easy money, how would you like to make $30.00 to $60.00 per hour, you can get that in a heart beat, from my understanding you live in wisconson right? everylittle old lady needs thier lawn mowed, something to think about, also it is tax free. and as far as the school thing you are almost out now, and the real world is unforgiving.

You make perfect sense to me. I do value my family over anything else. But my parents worked very hard to get us this house so selling the car was a decision that they made. I don't miss it too badly but I was really upset to see it go :( My girlfriend? The Core 2 Duo build? The Core 2 Duo build IS my girlfriend currently, lol :) I don't think I'll end up having to sell it. But soon I might transfer the video card into my parents' PC and get something a bit more beefy :P

Already have a rider. I have also done the lawn mowing thing. Makes good money but it's not always easy to find someone who needs their lawn mowed :(

I never said she shouldn't be paid back. But she's doing well enough right now that she can wait. She will be getting paid back when mom and dad have the money. I actually needed the $2000 for loads of things as I have been giving my entire weekly paychecks up for groceries, bills, etc.

It's nice to actually have some clothes. Most of what I got is in the bank now. I just spent $400 on some clothes. Some of it(~$300) is going to fix up my van so I can sell it. It's in fairly good shape but needs some basic repairs and a new exhaust system. Do you think $1500 is unreasonable for an '89 Chevy Astro with 60,000 original miles? I don't think so.

Its good to hear from you man... I don't think that is too much to ask for... Did you try bluebooking the value? See what they'd say, then add a couple hundred to what they give you and 'Or Best Offer' it, if its only got 60,000 miles on it then it should be running great... Good luck hope you can get a decent penny for it.

If it was my choice we would have. Dad was being stubborn because he didn't want to end up paying the lawyer with the money. I told him right away to get the lawyer but he didn't listen. Oh well, what're ya gonna do, right?

Runs great, good shape, minimal rust, decent mileage(18-23mpg depending). I've thought about bluebooking it but I'm really not worried about its "market value". My mom's boss sold it to me for $50 because it didn't run. All it needed was a new battery :P

Nice man, I've owned two cars, was given the first in which I sold back to the guy for $200 and paid $500 for my Pontiac I have now. I suggested bluebooking it just to give you a ballpark idea of how much to charge for it. Considering you only paid $50 bucks for it guess you can't complain on how much you get for it, but I understand trying to get as much as you can for it...

I just did a cars.com search and I think you can get even more for it... Considering what condition yours is in and the mileage compared to these. You could get like $2500+ easily if you can find a buyer... http://www.cars.com/go/search/search_res...29&aff=national

Based on those prices, I'm thinking maybe 2k is reasonable, but 2500? A little much. Seeing as the economy in my town is dried up, maybe 1800-2200 sounds good?

Not selling yet, but sometime this summer it's going. I'm thinking maybe a Ford Escort or the like for my next one.

There's some pretty nice RWD S10s that I've been looking at too. Even if it's like 4k, if I can get a pretty nice one like my dad's, I'll be happy.

Put it up as like 2100 o.b.o. and if someone offers you like 17 or 1800 take it... You know? That's what I would do, but I'm not you so its whatever you think...

Yeah, anything that'll get you good gas mileage. I have a 97' Grand Prix, I'm getting 18mpg and it has a 17 gallon tank, so figure out how much that would cost. $57.57 last time I filled up... Gas milage will save you alot of money in the long run...

with what you are saying about what is wrong with the van, the only thing that you got going for you is the low mileage,so how long have you had the van? and for a new exhaust system, that could run you $300.00 easley, so i would not put to much in the van, and you might get lucky to get $1000.00 for it.

Our '93 with a slashed interior carpet, bubbling paint, and 100,000+ miles was traded into the dealership for 2 thousand, so I think you stand a good chance of your van seeing just as much in a private trade if it's in anywhere near good condition.

$57 to fill a tank, I lol.
a 17 US gallon tank costs £69.50 to fill in this country, or $135.56.
Suffice to say 22-27mpg round here is not considered good mileage. (converted from US gallons to UK gallons. Yes, they're different)

if you don't know by now when you trade in a older car, to a dealership you are just giving the car to them, what they do is just knocking down some of the profit that they make!

@sammorris, How much driving do you actually do though? I average 30 miles just for work and back nevermind if I actually need to go anywhere or do anything... When you're getting 300 miles before you need to fill up again, it burns a nice hole in your pocket...

I was relating issues towards Estuansis being that he lives here in America too. I know that UK gallons are different and prices are more. But you also don't have such a crappy economy as we have right now... Nor do UK drivers tend to drive as much as Americans.

I don't drive at all, and that's one of the reasons why. I'm not trying to rain on your or Estuansis' parade, but things could be worse off for you, really. Though it isn't showing quite as badly yet, the economy here isn't exactly wonderful either. My dad's journey to work and back, however is 35 miles, 6 days a week, and his car averages around the 20mpg mark. Before you ask, it's a requisite for work, being a mechanic means having to tow cars then and again, and your average family car isn't going to take kindly to doing that on a regular basis. A tank costs about £90 now, and it usually gets refilled on pretty much a weekly basis.
We're far from the dire straits that Estuansis was in recently, but we're far from rich either, and fuel prices just aren't that big a deal in the US, or at least they shouldn't be.
