was using DVD Shrink to burn a disc (have been using it for a while without any problems) today it froze, so I ended the program using ctrl al delete, and my dvd drive will not open now.

In the face place of the DVD drawer there is a tiny hole. Use a pin and push it in the hole. The drawer will open.

Reboot the PC and your drive should be ok again.

It's possible that shrink encountered copy protection that it was unable to handle causing it to lockup/freeze.

Here are some suggestions (using free apps);
1) You could try using DVDFab decrypter to rip the video files to your hard drive with, once its done, run shrink and open the files, at this point you should be able to use shrink as you normally would to get the backup.

2) You could try using ripit4me, get it here along with guides;

3) You could try using AnyDVD (free for 21 days) in combination with DVD Shrink, you can get it here;

thanks guys, I am transferring a file to my sister (small vid of her on karaoke!!) on msn which is taking ages!!, it has 1 hour left to go,(taken 4 hours so far) so I do not want to restart till it has finished. Although I am itching to restart the computer, I will let you know what happens, if that does not work I will try the pin method.
