According to a new study, consumers are far more interested in the PlayStation 3 than its next-gen competitors.
Number of customers willing to pay "full price":
PS3: 8.9 million
Wii: 5.7 million
X 360: 800,000
--Interpret study
The study, conducted by Los Angeles research group Interpret, sought to determine which next-generation game console the US population currently prefers.
The answer, by a wide margin: the PlayStation 3.
The poll indicated that interest in the PlayStation 3 outnumbered that in the Xbox 360 by a ratio of over 8-to-1. The Wii did better, but was still outmatched by the PlayStation 3 at just under 2-to-1.
"Actual sales will be dictated by supply constraints," said Interpret CEO Michael Dowling in the report, "but if Sony had enough supply in the marketplace to fulfill demand, Microsoft would have a very difficult time at its current price point."

I wonder about some of these studys, because I know most of the people that bought ps2's went with the 360.

I'm one of those that went for a 360 because the PS3 was not out and I think I've been justified in doing that because of the further delay in the PAL territories.
BUT I've been hugely dissapointed in the games release to this point for the 360. Sure, there are some great titles lined up , Gears of War, BioShock, Mass Effect but its been a long time coming and they are all of a similar type. Microsoft have done nothing gaming wise to this point to steal Sony gamers apart from simply being in the market sooner.
What Playstation has always offered is a more diverse gaming experience and that is appealing to general gamers, I think that goes to the root of what DamonDash is saying. If more diverse games don't start coming out soon for the 360 I will be trading in come March next year and I think so may alot of others.

Thats the problem i have with Microsoft they leaning to heavy on HALO...Also when the X-BOX came out all they did was port games over to the X-Box & not try to separate themsleves from Sony.

Halo 2 will be released for Windows Vista, and Halo 3 will most likely also come onto PC since Microsoft showed off that way you can play XBOX 360 agaist people with the same game on PC. The one reason im not buyin an xbox is because most of the games are shooters, sure shooters are cool, but xbox doesnt have the greatest variety in any other genre. So GO PS3! lol

That is because that was the only new console that is out. That statement would only be valid if the PS3 was also out at the same time.
PS3...it only does everything(that Sony allows it to)

Well the people I know went with the 360 because they thougt it would better than the ps3 because xbox was better than ps2.

I bought a 360 cuase it's nearly half the price of the ps3,and at the time my ps2 just broke and i was pissed off,so i decided to give a ms a chance.damn they haven't changed me at all,i hate the xbox brand even more now.But until the ps3 comes out,the 360 will have to do.

First off, unless the study was held and at LEAST 5 million people were polled worldwide, this could NEVER represent a trustworthy number.
Second, @ emachine : you sound like just another fanboy to me.

Show me PROOF of the xbox or the PS2 being BETTER than the other.
As far as i'm concerned, they both had way too many flaws for what they cost, and most of the games had some severe flaws, especially in the online content division,that usually didn't get adressed in any way, shape of form.
The best PS2 example would be Socom 2 with the millions of glitches, and tons of cheating options with AR, Xploder or codebreaker.
And the age old example on the Xbox would easily be Halo 2, with all the modders, bridgers and other f*ckwits messing about online.
And let's not get started on not providing all content, software and hardware wordlwide, on both systems.
In the end, they both had problems, just like the nextgen consoles are having and will have.
So spare me your [fill in the blank] is better bullsh*t.

emachine is no fanboy. He just want's to make some extra money. Am I correct? Also about the part xbox being better then the ps2 I lke ps2 better because it has more games and the game sonly for ps2 were better the xbox's ones. But the system alone xbox seemes to be a more powerful system but just slightly. But I hate the xbox controllers and I like the ps2 controllers better. So that is why I like ps2 better.
