Having a problem burning all of a sudden...I am relatively new at this and happened to buy DVD+R disks for my first 100 backups. Once those were gone I happened to grab a 100 pack of DVD-R. I did not really know what the difference was but I have tried to back up using three of them and am left with three costars. Is it possible that my burner doesn?t like the -R's or do I need to use a different setting? The following is the error I have gotten all three times, (it?s a bit long). I would hate to go out and spend another $40 for DVD+R unless I know the -R?s wont work. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi lavalley
Here are some suggestions for you:
Quote:
Nero API version: 6.0.0.0

Update Nero to the last version of 6 that autoburn's w/ Shrink - 6.6.0.18.
Package 1
http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Ner....0.18_no_yt.exe

Package 2
http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe

Recorder: <PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-108

Quite a bit behind on the firmware updates too. The latest is 1.20. One thing firmware does is help the drive w/ read & write strategies of media - esp. the newer ones. Your drive recognizes the media but best to keep it up to date. Here's a link:

May not be playing into this error but best to have DMA on.

Not the best - better would be Verbatim or made in Japan Sony, Fuji or Maxell.

Give those a go & let us know.

I downloaded all of the updates but it still won't work...maybe I should just go back to the DVD+R and hope that it works again...thanks for the updates though, I never even thought to do that.

Hey, it worked...I tried it again for the heck of it and it worked. Most likely I needed to restart my computer after the updates and I must have forgotten, then when I turned it off and back on the following day I was able to burn...good thing I tried it one more time. Thanks for your help!!!!!
