Blank/black screen when opening Shrink DVD program

Greetings - new to the forum and could use some help. I had been using Shrink for a few months when my PC (Sony Vaio RS630g) blew up and was reset to factory settings via Recovery Disk. Two problems now exist:
1. When I try to open Shrink it goes to a blank/black screen and I can only get out using Alt + F4 which closes the programs. This is only program it happens to - I have uninstalled and downloaded from several different sites with the same result.
2.Opening some video on the Internet does the same thing or plays it on full screen with no controls. Once the video is over it just locks up.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

I had the same problem. In my case, it was because my secondary monitor was taking over for some reason. If you have two monitors connected to your video card, play around with the dual monitor settings.

Make sure your primary is set correctly. Also play with the video play back mode (full/non-full screen).
