the games will not be region specific but you're out of luck with Blu-ray movies. its just like the psp. however, if you watch a movie of sony showing of the xmb, you'll see that there is a region option. it probably won't be enabled in teh consoles consumers will get, but there's always hope. you can see the video at gametrailers.com

thats a misnomer the PS3 is region protected however they have let JAP,USA and EUROPE be cross reionged,as they add to the regions god knows what they will do with it,also the movies r stupidly reinged I think they saw there mistake and thats one of the reasons why they have attakced importers

hmmm, so is it not really worth getting one in the states and taking it back to uk...
bearing in mind who knows when they will be available in the uk.
as regards the films being region coded, i wouldn't have thought that would be too much of an issue - after all, you can get region 1 films from play.com or amazon and shipped to europe no problem.
cheers

tell me about it
i am surprised that the staff in sony centres have this superiority complex.
just cause you don't go in there in a 3 piece suit waving an american express gold card, they treat you like some second class citizen.
is my money no good to them?
tossers.
i shall queue up at bestbuy or toys r us like the rest of the planet.
well, north america for the time being.
- still none the wiser whether a north american one will work in the UK.
a UK PAL ps2 had all sorts of issues on an NTSC system...

cheers mate, will give that a dabble.
problem before is that US tv's i have come across don't accept a PAL signal, whereas UK tvs accept both PAL & NTSC.
mind you, from what i have been reading, it looks like the ps3s will be sold out in a matter of hours, to all these people queuing up the night before outside toys r us.
not keen when its -20 in canada!
thanks again.
