i have read serveral forums about the computer shuting down after using DVD Shrink i have been trying to backup click and garfield and i havnt been able to because half way through it will only shut my computer screen off not the whole computer someone said it was because it was getting to hot so i tryed letting it cool down and doing it,,,,, and letting this be the only task i was doing when i let it cool down. if anyone has any info on why my computer is doing this i would be so happy 2 know y, and be willing to try i have also cleaned my reg....... just for information i also used dvd platium and it did the same thing but it will backup the rest of my movies thanks for any info you can give me selena
If you havent opened up your case and blew out all the dust bunnies yet, I would. In addition to defragging, not multitasking etc. this is a good habit to get into. Make sure your fans are clean and working. I agree this sounds like a heat issue and if it continues shutting your computer down it could end up costing you a new one.
try running this Program called Speedfan and that will tell u if ur Fans are working and the Temp of ur PC, CPU, heres a link

when running this program TEMP #2 is ur CPU temp, u can see if the CPU gets too hot when using shrink
once the dvd has been decripted see if there is a setting that says " turn computer off" after its done putting it to your hd. or if its shutting down when your done ripping it to dick. if after then its Nero and you have to go in Nero and change it. it has nothing to do with dust bunnies. its all in the settings.
read the post again a little more closely. casacasa6 said that his computer is shutting off the computer screen and not the whole computer. This could be cause from overheating. Not only the processor but even memory overheats. If his fans are full of dust or not working properly then the machine will not function properly. I agree with LOCOENG on this one.
