I installed new (1gb) memory on two separate computers and Shrink quits on both when I click "Backup." Could it be the new memory? Unfortunately the old memory is not available to put back in and try. I didn't have this problem before installing the new memory. All other applications seem to work fine, but Shrink is probably my most demanding application based on how the CPU temperature soars when I run shrink "Backup."

Adding more memory would only help your PCs run better (unless the sticks were defective).

Since the same thing is happening on both PCs while trying to backup the same movie (I'm assuming you tried the same movie on both PCs):

This is most likely caused by an encryption issue that shrink can't handle, so try using an alternate like DVDfab decrypter to rip the DVD video files files with. When DVDfab is done, open the files ripped to your hard drive using shrink (using the open files tab) and proceed as you normally would.

Last, you can try using AnyDVD (free for 21 days);

Note: If your concerned about your CPU temp, open the case and make sure all the fans are running properly (take a good look at the CPU fan), clean out any dust bunnies you might see.

Sounds like DRM problems as johnl123 said. Does it quit immediately after clicking "backup" or after shrink has been working? If immediately it's DRMs! As Rab said what is the movie?

It did turn out to be an encryption issue on one computer but the other computer still quits even on an unencrypted movie.
