I'm from Canada and I was wondering if anyone knows a good place where I can get blank dvd-r media at a great price?

I want to pay the cheapest price. Just like anyone actually.

Myself, I'm in Calgary.

I just pointed to that thread because it was right near the top. (And I had given the exact same answer yesterday.)

I know what you mean, I have almost all the same comment in the tread I recommended. I asked what city everyone is in, as I am in Toronto and if others are in Toronto area I could recommend specific stores. But in Calcary you get every thing 8% cheaper then me, so your not too bad off.

prisoner, name me some stores in toronto (east end if possible) where I can get good deals on spindles. I'm looking for anything but princo, I didn't like them very much. Also, champ76 what city are you in?

WEStar, I am not too familar with the east end. I am at Univeristy of Toronto. So I mainly buy from stores at the College and Spadina area. There is a crazy number of computer stores in that area. Cheapest to date is Sonnam, they have a web site as well. Last I was there, I got DVD-R 2x Ritek at $2.5 a disk. You can buy spindles or discs in slim cases and that was $2.5 per disc in a slim case. But that was in May, I am not too sure now. The last spindle I got was DVD-RW version 1.1 Optio disc from Aution website in Missauga for $2 a disc. But I don`t think they are available an longer.

Why not just buy from sites in the USA? It's much cheaper. Look for sites that ship via USPS instead of UPS to save on brokerage charges. Check out http://www.shop4tech.com , http://www.meritline.com , http://www.precisioncddvd.com

When you order from the US, do you get hit with a GST bill, Handling charge and any extra PST? I ordered once from the US and the extra charges to ship into Ontario made it, not worth it. You need to add up all the tax and junk when comparing. Ordering from Alberta would be 8% cheaper for me and don't need to pay all the extra duty. But I haven't seen any cheap places from web searches in Alberta.

They may get their media cheaper, but original DVD's ar cheaper up here. Any disc that sells for $24.99 here also sells for $24.99 in the States.

As for buying from Alberta, the place I buy my stuff locally can be found at http://www.memoryexpress.com
I don't know if they do any shipping, and if you would be exempt from paying PST. Many Alberta businesses are supposed to charge PST and/or HST if selling outside of the province. I'm not sure how the rules on this works; I've never had to worry about it.

ya that's one thing DVDs, that why there's dvd burners, look at other media, MINI DVs cost double in Canada, Video Cameras cost more in Canada, Digital photo Cameras cost moare in Canada.

Mini DV camera dv-pr953 us 1,278US in Canada 2,999CAD plus tax.

I know DVD are alittle cheap in Canada you are right, what pisses me off, i'm only young and i already realize that FREE TRADE is Bullshit,

You want Cheap DVDs, I was over Malaysia at christmas, bought over 75 copyed dvds, for about 2.5CAD that's with the cases looks great and it's beem about 5 months and they all work great. My question is, if they are sell copy dvd movies with case and colored labels for 2.5 canadian, and the DVD have a gold surface where record, how the hell are they able to offer a copy dvd movie for 2.5 canada. the copy places must be getting the blank media for like 50Cent Canadian or cheaper. So why is media here to high?

I'm looking at those site posted above the cheapest i can get to canada would be about 2.5 cad with shipping

Prisoner,
The Princo 4X disks I was referring to are DVD-R disks. If you are interested, I will have some samples of Princo 2x dvd-rw disks that I can send to you to see if they meet your needs.
I will be retailing them for around $200 for a 90 pc spindle or 2.25 a piece.

I may be interested, but $200 right now is tight. Are you or can you break up a spindle into smaller units. A 10 pack or 5 pack is more what I could handle now at that price. Let me know if that is possible.
Thanks

That doesn't seem like a great deal, Netjumbie. That works out to $2.60 per disc, plus whatever shipping they might charge.
