If you can get the Monsters for cheap then I'd go with the Monsters. What length are you getting?

A splitter won't give you an extra HDMI input port. Look at the specs on the amazon product:
Quote:
Display your HDMI digital output to 2 seperate displays
It SPLITS one HDMI signal to two HDTV's. Example: split the video signal from a PS3 to show simultaneously on 2 HDTV's. What DamonDash needs is a switcher - multiple inputs to a one input display.

Don't sweat it - it's easy to mistake a splitter for a switcher.

I use the monoprice switcher for HD cable box, upconverting DVD, and HD-DVD (plus future PS3 or BluRay player) and I see no loss of picture quality. It is a very good product with a low price.

Same experience here. For more rave reviews on the monoprice HDMI switcher:

This is an excellent HDMI switcher which provides tremendous value and excellent performance.
The 5x1 switcher passed testing at 720p/hdcp, 1080i/hdcp, 1080p/60/hdcp using 50ft 24AWG HDMI
cables without using any additional repeaters. In addition the 5x1 switch worked well as a
mixed HDMI/DVI switcher and had no problems with audio over HDMI.
