Did you put that new burner in a DELL computer. If so check you manual because almost all Dells need the jumpers to be in SELECT, NOT master or slave!
If not a Dell, what was the setting on the old drive that it replaced? If you did not replace a drive, then open your pc and see what the other drive's, that was not replaced, jumper is set. Usually the drive that's plugged into the middle of the cable is slave and the end plug goes to master.

That burner jumper should be set to Cable Select. Check manual or your model# at Dell site. I wouild almost bet on it.

Garmoon is right about Dells. They are a bit different than most other PCs in the way they set up their drives.
Check and make sure you have the correct IDE cable as well. Your new drive may need an 80 pin cable.
Top cable in the picture is an 80 pin.

Also if you do switch the jumper to Cable Select, make sure that if there is another drive installed on the same cable that it is also set to Cable Select.

It's good that DMA is enabled. What movie are you trying to backup in Shrink? The new ones have encryption that Shrink cannot handle and Nero can't handle at all without some program that removes the DRMs. Did you set you new burner to Cable Select? And Check that the other drive is also in Cable Select too? Try a movie that you have successfully backedup with Shrink.

i can process a whole dvd movie in 25min! i just baught a amd 64 x2 computer, boy is it ever sweet! so if your planning toget a new computer go with the atholon 64 x2 duel core ,i did a lot of reading on it before i made my mind as what computer i wanted to buy and the atholons 64 x2 is the way togo when baccking up your movie collections. heres wut programs i run they worked all fine for me dvddecryptor and dvdshrink i have not run in with any problems with the new movie releases ,i just did my a back up of my own dvd movie slither no problem and click no problem., try uninstalling you dvdshrink or wut ever and reinstall , and is your firmware uptoo date? and do you have enough space on your hardrive? and do you keep your computer tuned up? freeing up hardrive space and running defrag really improves performance . check that your cables are set up right goin to your dvd rom drives and jumper settings are in correct postion ? or its just that you need to uninstall your programs and do a clean reinstall o make sure you have the latist ver installed keep your "dvd" programs upto date that all i know wut to tell you for now ,i hope it works out for you.
