Need help on Modding my XBOX360

Alright well, i own an XBOX 360 and im looking to backup some of my games. To be clear, i own all these games, and im definately not looking to download any games. (10+GB on a 3MBPS dsl? I dont think so :P)
Anyways, i'm a complete newb at trying to figure out what drive I have and if I need to purchase a modchip and if it requires soldering and such.
If anyone has any guides on how to mod the 360, how to open it and such to see what CD drive is in there and how to make it be able to read burned games from CloneCD. I do believe that there is a tutorial for burning the games stickied, but will I be able to burn my games straight to another disc or will I have to download them?
Also, when I mod my 360, will I lose access to XBOX live for my burned games and will some of the functionalities be limited?
Finally, if anyone knows of any reputable internet service that can do the mod for me for around $80 or less, I'd be much obliged.

man if your gonna spend that much just send the system to me and i will do it for you for much less then 80 bones. you can actually tell what drive you have from the looks of the drive tray itself, if you have hitachi, i beleive there is a bigger circle to the right and in the center there is a slot and 2 half circles, and with samsung, there is a middle slot, and a very small hole in front(closest to you). once you figure out let me know. i will help for sure.

If you have any feedback from ebay and such or some reputable source, ill consider it.
Also, if/when i finally mod my xbox 360, will i be able to do this:
1. Burn my original games onto backups
2. Play the backups by just slipping in the game.

98 .... is that an offer to others aswell? I would like to buy a modded 360 but cant find them online like the ps2 and have absolutely no idea how to do any of the hitech talk on here to mod it. If i sent you money on paypal would you mod one for me and send it to me? And how well does the modding work? I bought a modded ps2 off a reputable site this summer and the thing is already dying so im just wondering if it is worth modding the 360 and how long it should work. Thanks in advance

I was thinking about buying a 360 from someone I know is selling it modded myself somewhere, but I never got around to it. It's a premium, but I don't think he still has his headset. If someone wants in on that I can see if he still has it for sale.

Hey i was just wondering whether u know which is better for the xbox360 modding; installing a modchip or flashing the firmware? Can i play on xbox live aftr modding it?

Changing firewear is the best way always updates and u can restore to normal if u need to and yes u can play live with both

What do you mean changing the firewear?
So you mean whether i install a modchip or flash the firmware MS will not ban me from xbox live while playing backupped game? (btw im not going to do the modding myself..)

Yeah you can either install a modchip in your 360 or flash it(recommended). You can find guides around these forums if you wanna flash, depending on what drive is in your 360. Either way, youre not going to get banned from xbox live ....yet(no one has gotten banned from live with their 360 modded).Or ofcourse you can get it flashed from someone else......btw, where are you located? All in all, itll cost you anywhere from $100-160 to get it flashed.

man who is gonna pay 160 dollars to get there drive flashed, i will flash it, dirt cheap, but i am in canada, but it will be cheaper to ship the 360 here, i'll flash it, and send it back, you don't even have to pay me, i love doin this shit, always willing to help someone out.

no what i meant was everything is going to cost up to $160 apporximetely. I mean in my area, they flash it for 60, then youll likely have to buy the samsung drive for 60, and then Verbatim DVD+R DL Disks for like 50ish(depending on where you buy them). But if were you, id sent it to 98sohc , nothing like getting service done for free! we need more people like you 98sohc !!

i am soon going to get my 360 modded so it is able to play burned games is it likely they will flash it or istall a modchip? Do they both enable me to play burned games ?

look around in cragislist. You should find an experienced modder there, theres ton here where i am (ny). Or someone here on the forums....... some do it for free !
