I have been using Shrink now for 2 years or more and nearly every problem encountered i have been able to sort it out however this one is really strange but someone must have come across this before and may know the answer.
I have Shrink version 3.2 I have downloaded the film and converted this from an AVI file to DVD the files have been saved to a folder so i Have Audio and Video files. On using the burner that came with the conversion software it burns to a DVD no problem. However when it was played through a stand alone DVD player towards the middle it started to freeze and finally stopped almost as though the film had been paused.
Thinking that this may have been because i forgot to set the burning speed which was set to maximum i did it again this time at a much more lowered speed. I then tried these video files through shrink,The file was analysed and once finished i had the green strip showing how much room was on the dvd however i then get a box up which states the Shrink 3.2 has encountered a fault and needs to close box which gives me the choice if i wish to send the report to Microsoft bla bla bla,
I then converted the file again and this time i chose shrink 3.2 to burn the image and got the same problem? I have burned other downloaded films no problem but one or two are just like this one the same thing happens. Any ideas?

i get that too , you need to shut down all unnessassary programs that are running in the background on your computer, like windows updates ect. i notice that when ur runnging shrink and somthing else is running the program will freeze for a moment in middle of burning or interfeer with the burning process on the dvd or if you have used up almost all ur harddrive space that'll have somethin todo with the freezeups too in middle of your movie , so eather free up some of your hardrive space delete or uninstall all unessasry programs and run defrag that should increase your computers performance and the out come of your movies.

burning to fast will cause the problems that your talking also bad media will do this also, what program are you using to do your conversion from AVI to VOB? another thing is the AVI file that you downloaded from the net could also be the problem, if it was a pay site where you got the file i would contact the tech people at the site and tell them the problems that you are having and ask if you could get another download, if they won't get your money back, try to use ty, verbs, fuji theese are good media, also try not doing any multitasking while you are burning or converting, hope this helps good luck happy burning have a nice day

Thank you for the reply, Firstly the software being used for the conversions is Cucusoft AVI to VCD DVD MPEG. I think that the downloaded film itself was at afult as i tried burning at differnt speeds and still the same. Funny really that the film freezes in exactly the same place so would imagine this could have been a fault where these files originated. Tried downloading it again and the same thing happened.
I have also since tried much shorter films and some of these will not encode at all through shrink? I am beginning to wonder if these film downloads are worth the hassle, You have to wait ages for the files and then another wait while the file is converted into what ever format i wish to use.
Obviously i have a paid version of the converter but also have AVI2DVD which i found on this site. But can any one tell me if there are other better versions which are freeware and are not trial period only software but will allow be to convert files from AVI to DVD.
Thank you

hey newb. where are you d/l your movie from? cause if your getting them off limewire or some shareware they ain't worth the hassle more than likly the movie was bad tobegin with . i use dvdfab and DVD Shrink and Nero i haven't run into any problems backing up my dvds, but yeah if you have something running in the background and your tryn to convert a movie it'll mess up the outcome of the movie unless you have a amd 64 x2 duelcore proceesor
you can multitask while converting your movie.

you have to understand something also that unless you are using a pay per download site that will help you with your troubled download, you can't cry about it here, rember you get what you pay for, or garbage in garbage out, or you get what you don't payfor, do you have any problems when you backup a dvd from disk to disk? probley not right? and just think if you spend a little money and buy a good video converting program you won't be wasting money on disks that end up no good, hope this helps happy burning have a nice day

Thank you all for your suggestions i have since resolved the problem due to freezing. It seems that the download itself was mostly to blame for this problem as i have since downloaded other films with no hassle at all and they have been perfect.
I know this that there are some downloads which are on purpose posted to this certain download site which is not Limewire i never use it and feel that if i am downloading something i would rather be paying for it than getting it for nothing! I am not into pirating films or music and only want this media for myself. In other words i am not selling what i download. The site itself have suggested a number of options and i did try them but it seems that some people have some real bad copies stored on their P.C. I always as of now don't go anywhere near the P.C when it is converting. I will always switch all other tasks off when this is being done from now on. Everyone thank you for the suggestions. Brilliant site and some excellent help Thank you!
I do not need any more suggestions to this question thankyou to everyone on here who has helped.

well this is where things get touchy, are the films copywrited? if so, you say that you just burn them for your self, but if you have not bought the movie, you are doing pirating, it all depends on what site you are using, there are a few legal movie sites that let you download movies and burn to disk, and theese sites are not one's that are shared movies, the ones that have a shared folder, thees sites are nothing more thain paid filesharing sites, so you would have to make sure to read the user agreament on what is legal or not, as far as the movie copying, hope that helps have a nice day
