DVD Shrink error

Hi There
Starting to get a lot of "Failed to read file D:\ ( Data error, cyclic redundancy check) errors lately in DVD Shrink.
The drive works fine normally and I can burn most dvd's but sometimes I'll get this even when the dvd is brand new and not scratched.

As this application is no longer updated, the problem is going to be one of 2 things:
1 - Your drive is starting to fail, or
2 - Copy Protection on the source disc that Shrink cannot handle ordeal with.
Easiest way to find out is to try the rip in a different drive - if you have one available - or to try & re-rip one from your collection that you have already made a backup of. If the drive is failing, then this will probably fail as well. If it still rips fine, then CP is the problem.

Solution to the CP issue is SlySoft's AnyDVD. Load this up, and then run Shrink. Should be just fine.

did you use AnyDVD to rip to the hard drive before using shrink? "on the fly" sometimes leads to errors that don't happen if you rip first. right click on the AnyDVD fox icon and choose "rip dvd to harddisk"...

Because DVD Shrink is no longer updated to take on board new encryptions within DVD media you are going to encounter this problem quite a lot.Especially if any of the media you are trying to duplicate has anyhting on it which mentions Sony. There are a varied amount of films around today which have some difficult encryptions to get over. Cyclic Redundancy is usually down to either a dirty or scratched disc but mostly down to encryption. The best way although sometimes this won't work but it is never the less something to try?
Get DVDFab dycrypter and rip the files from the DVD to your HD, Then through shrink click on files and find the folder on your HD. Hopefully DVD Shrink will Analyse the media and then encode. Normally if none of this works i use a standalone DVD recorder through a video enhancer and then reburn the disc with no encryption then through my p.c to remove all the rubbish. This works every time.
