DVD Shrink How to get subtitles to work??

Okay so heres the deal I use DVD Shrink to back up my dvds and I allways re-author the back-ups so that I do not have to compress the video too much. The problem Im having is with DVDs that have subtitlies in them. For example The Davinci Code when they speak french there should be american subtitles underneth. When I re-auther DVDs I uncheck all of the audio EXCEPT AC3 5.1-ch English and I usualy uncheck all of the Subpicture box's. So I found out that if I do that the subtitles do not show up at all. So I tryed just checking 1. English- Normal Captions & 2. English under the Subpicture heading. This does not seem to input the subtitles either! So is there any way to get the subtitles on my back up DVD in the re-author mode???

Any help is very much appreciated because I would hate to have to go through a trial and error and wast valuable blank DVDs and time...Thank You again!!

You are correct as I also could not get it to play them correctly if I just re-authored the DVD. The only way I could get it to work is to do a D/L DVD. I'll work on it tonight and see if I can get you a definitive answer tomorrow

Oh, that's easy. It's something hidden I found by accident while playing around with it the first time I got it. After you drag over a Title (1 is usually the main movie, sometimes not) right-click it and select "Select Default Streams." Under the field set called "Subpicture" click the "Display the following subpicture stream:" bullet. In the drop-down box below it, select the subtitle you want. By the way, it will only show in the drop-down box the subpictures that you checked beforehand. I have seen Da Vinci Code but I don't know how it's DVD structure is (haven't rented or bought it yet), so I assume you should set the default to "2. English," as per your example, since "1. English - Normal Captions" sounds like the SDH track. Hope this helps.

Dang, can't edit.

I also wanted to point out that the translation track won't be the track that will have the subtitles throughout the film. Just wanted to make that clear. If I sound like an idiot right now, it's because you already realize this since there's two English tracks. Hey, some people don't realize this.
