I have tried 4 times now to burn this but all I get when I put in my xbox is media disc?
Can any one help ?

your probably using a bad ss file, i use ss.softmodfiles.net, they have a rating next to each file.

hi m8..if you got it off a newsgroup then the only ones i have seen up there myself are pre-patched and dont need merging.
how exactly are you burning the gears iso that you have got..explain wot you do to burn it and will see if you have gone about it correctly..
also when you downloaded the Gears game can you remember what group it was that posted it..ie the Rar files will have a signature name like sx-gowu.000..this way i maybe able to tell you if the one you downloaded is patched.
if you have the Gears mentioned then burn the .dvd file that came with it via clone cd not the .iso

Hi
Ok what I do is use smart par on files the extract to a folder. then burn using clone cd selecting the image dvd file.
As for the gears of war file I have deleted all the files now only have folder.
The only other thing it may be is the media as i am using datasafe dual layer + which I have had games that work on? I have ordered some verbatim discs that should be here 2mr.

whats the name of the iso or image that you have in the folder,also open up the .dvd file with notepad and make sure the info on it matches the iso or image you are trying to burn..
also are you using clone cd version 5.2.9.1 fully registered?

When I right click dvd image and open with notebook i get
LayerBreak=1913760
IMAGE.iso
am using this version of clone

am using the pioneer 111 with datasafe DVD+R DL,
not had this working before but downloaded from a newsgroup and was told worked ok.
Think I HAVE A SAMSUNG not sure as got it premodded

I can think of 2 things. One it may be the disc. I never encountered datasafe. I think they are pretty much just in the UK, but I'm not sure on that. When all else fail, Verbatim are the best. 2nd your drive might not be properly flashed if flashed at all.

I have burnt some game before on the drive I am using.I have some Verbatim coming in the morning so will try with them.
I hope it is the discs and got to many coasters in the house now,

thats the problem right there!!! ...you have a .dvd file that says this IMAGE.iso yes? its not an iso its an image,therefore your .dvd file should read IMAGE.000 (THATS ZEROS).change the line command IMAGE.iso TO IMAGE.000 in notepad,save it and then re-burn the IMAGE.000 file with clone cd and it should work now.it has been reported that the .dvd file is wrong when downloading it

the part that is now red is the bit thats wrong..you have opened up the .dvd file and it reads IMAGE.iso,well its not an iso its Image so change the .dvd file to this.......in notepad
LayerBreak=1913760
IMAGE.000
then save changes and it should work.

hmmmm,usually the only reason you get open tray is the downloaded game isnt patched but you have a .dvd file with it..what speed did you burn the image,some are saying to burn it with clone cd 5.2.9.1 at 4x speed especially with that version of Gears.i had a different version to that and it worked straight away.there is a site that says the version of Gears you have came with a faulty .dvd file which is why i thought the one you had was wrong which it was but no joy..
if you havent already try burning at 4x speed..
what does your .dvd file look like now?
list what you have now exactly as it is...mean image.000 etc
