I usually re-author a movie and store only the main movie. How can I make sure I get the sub-titles? I just ripped Da Vinci code which has a lot of French, but the sub-titles didn't get recorded on the copy. I used AnyDVD to open disk.

Hi tomtruty
Some others members had that problem using reauthor in Shrink w/ this one.
Disc one doesn't have much else on it besides the movie & some previews.
You might just want to do a full disc backup.

You can set AnyDVD to remove annoying trailers and adverts and go to main movie or title menu so the movie will start at the menu or go straight to the movie.

Another option would be to rip w/ AnyDVD or DVDFab Decrypter 1st then try reauthor mode in Shrink.

I'm doing this one right now using RipIt4Me in full disc mode. Disc one must have a lot of extra content on it because I went from 64% compression to 85% when going to reauthor mode and removing extra audio and subtitles. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Oh that's right - this one did have alot audios.

I used CloneDVD - movie only & keeping the menu - removed all but the 5.1 audio and was 80% - kinda surprised me the compression was low on this one.

So is there a portion of the movie that is in French? 0r is this just part of the protection scheme?

Yep - some parts they speak French (they're in France). So the English subtitles should come up then.
