I currently have a Philips 30" HDTV that supports 480P and 1080i video formats. The question I have is when I get the PS3, is there any way I could hook it up to my Home theater (also Philips) and my Cable HD box (Comcast). If I can what cables am I going to need?
Thanks
Ok I just sold my 30" Philips CRT TV and just purchased a 26" 26PF5321D/37 LCD TV. I still have my Home Theater HTS3400 System, but want to hook this up to my cable channels I am looking at going with a SPDIF Coaxial cable. Is this the better way over component? ALso when the PS3 becomes available to everyone, I want to hook that up to my Home Theater and MY TV, DO I use HDMI? Can I just use HDMI from the PS3 to the TV? Will that work? I really need some help!!
Plus I will be getting an HD box so this could effect things right?
I've just downloaded the owner's manual of the HTS3400. I was looking at a diagram of the back panel and it seems that your home theater doesn't have any digital audio inputs. It does have 2 analog stereo RCA inputs. What this means is you're stuck with using stereo connections from your cable box and PS3 to your home theater. It doesn't say in the manual but I guess it applies some sort of surround processing to the stereo signal so you'll have surround sound from the stereo inputs.
PS3
Video: HDMI cable to HDTV Audio: Stereo RCA cable to home theater - [AUX] Audio Input
Cable Box
Video: Component cables to HDTV Audio: Stereo RCA cables to home theater - [TV] Audio Input
To watch DVD's played on your home theater connect your home theater to your HDTV using another set of component cables. Remember your HDTV has 2 component inputs.
I got this off of the website. Couldn't I use the Digital Coaxial cable out connection and connect the home theater this way?
Connectivity
Front / Side connections : Headphone out
Other connections : AUX in, TV in (audio, cinch), Line out, Digital coaxial out, Composite video (CVBS) out, Component Video out interlaced, SVideo out, FM Antenna, AM Antenna, Easy-Fit speaker connectors
The digital coax contains audio not video usually in the form of Dolby Digital 5.1 data. The best way to connect your home theater for DVD playback to your HDTV will be thru component.
Okay if someone could help. I just sold my HTS3400 Philips home theater system and purchased the HTS6500 Philips Home theater. I want to watch cable channels through my home theater and my PS3 through my home theater. I want the best connection, what would be the best way to set this all up.
