purchased a PS3 in Kuala Lumpur (240volt 60g version) NSTC/J and took it back home to New Zealand.
doesnt play PS2 games, PS3 games ok of course,most games that will be released here in NZ are going to be PAL even though the NSTC games play fine on most modern TV's.
Anybody got any suggestions for makeing PAL games work on a NSTC PS3 player , or waithing for ISO / dumps the way to go.
Doesnt play local DVD's either but copies are fine....go figure

Ps3 is region free! all NTSC and PAL will work on any ps3!

The region free only works for PS3 games, but not for PS1, PS2 games and movies.

I have heard that all NTSC games/DVDs should work on any PS3 it is the PAL games that are the problem!

I maybe wrong in my last statement. But from what ive read that the PS1 and PS2 games are region lock and will only work in what region you live. Basically you can't play a japanese PS1 or PS2 game on a US PS3 and vice versa.

besides ps2 region games be region locked, most ps2 games have been reported not working actaully. Most of them either have no audio/video, or simply dont boot up. but yes its probably becasue ps2 games arent region-free
