i have tried to use dvd shrink to see if i get better quality than the dvd decrypt / instant copy method (as machine is low on space) i ripped the film and resized but when i burnt the dvd it wont play in my sony wega dvd player
any ideas? i didnt give it an ID and i left it region free - i did stick everything in a video_ts folder tho - any ideas why this dont work?

When you say you ripped and then re-sized do you mean you re-sized with another programme? You should just use DVD Shrink to do both in one go. When the finished files are on your HD just drag and drop them in Nero in the order they were created and burn. Works fine everytime for me.

weird!
i used DVD Shrink to resize them on the fly and rip at same time - but im then left with all the files and no DIR structure... so i added a video_ts folder and dragged em in there - then burnt with ECD6 Pro - do i NEED an ID key and if so how do i know what to put in the box?
also, do i usually need to have a region code on to play on most dvd players? am i best to just make it region 2 as thats what my dvd player is (region 2 is uk innit?)

You don't need a ID key, or region code.
Ripping the DVD automatically takes out the region code feature.
You were right to put the files in a VIDEO_TS directory as well.
Are you able to play the DVD on your PC ?
Do you know if your sons Wega DVD player plays DVD-R media ?

The ping on the server is 59ms. Its working as i have just cleared all my cookies, cache and temporary internet files and it works. Everyone else can access it so i suggest you adjust your browser or interent settings.

babelfish, you should use Nero. I have cd creator 6 and it doesn't work for me, but when I use DVDShrink and then Nero, works every single time.

I get page not found when I click the link above, but I have been to your site before from some of your other links with success, so it may be a problem with the link. It has happened before to me on some of the threads when you post a link, but more times than not, I do get the site from your link.
I think you had a link earlier to TMPGEnc user guide in an earlier thread that I continued to get page not found. I tried finding it on your site manually, but never found it. Is there a TMPGEnc (not TMPGEnc DVD Author) user guide on your site?

Guys,
This thread is getting a bit off topic, it's more to do with getting access to a website than DVD Shrink (Not a lot in common in the 2 is there ?)
So, I'm closing it.
