This is an easy way to install 3.01 with devhook .51 without any troubles. No messing with flash1. No messing with extracting the data.psar file.

1.) first we will need the installer for devhook. Download it from here - http://dl.qj.net/3.01-DevHook-Firmware-I...11615/catid/151

2.) now we need the 3.01 update. download is here - http://www.psp-hacks.com/download.php?id=934

3.) last we need to download devhook .51 - http://www.psp-hacks.com/download.php?id=933

4.) extract the devhook firmware installer and copy it to ms0:\PSP\GAME.

5.) extract and place the 3.01 update in the root of your memory stick.

6.) extract devhook and put the launcher files in ms0:\PSP\GAME and place the DH folder in the root of your memory stick. you can also simply copy and paste it but in the guide that comes with the installer states you need the fbm folder but I found it runs fine without it.

7.) Start the devhook firmware installer and press X when it prompts you on screen. It will now install all the firmware files for devhook. No more BSOD. When it's finished you can now boot devhook with 3.01 support.

On a side note it seems that some people (including me) have X and O buttons swapped on their psp's when in 3.01 In doesn't happen to all people but here are the registry files to swap them back to their original places.
http://rapidshare.com/files/6249912/Button_Swap_for_3.01.rar.html
Place these files in the ms0:\dh\301\f1\registry.

yeah it has a flash 1. its supposed to install it with the easy installer. was yours in eboot form? where did you download it? I downloaded mine from the sony playstation website in hopes the X and O buttons would be in their normal places. If you flashed previous files from devhook .51 did you remove them first before trying this?

Yeah use the devhook firmware installer. Its kind of like an easy installer but eboot based. I think its an awesome concept.for this you dont need the psar, just drop the 3.01 eboot to the root of the memstick and itll take care of everything else. Also if you did install the files previously with the .51 launcher make sure to remove those.

EDIT:
Good to hear. You should get on msn tomorrow because I wanna talk to u about the ps3/psp and ps1 emulation.

I will don't worry. Crash Bandicoot is at 10%. It is 470mb plus the 100kb license allowing it to be installed on up to 5 PSP systems.

@guano I figured you would like that part about using it on up to 5 PSPs ;)

Its downloaded pretty slow right now (22%) its probably becuase 2 computers and a ps3 are connected to the same network.

And a little more info about it:

It will not download at all unless your PSP is connected during the whole process.

All games are $6.50 with tax

The smallest game is CoolBoarders at around 260mb

The downloaded file is deleted off the hardrive after the download is completed to the PSP

All games require 3.01 (thanks Booster and n00bz)

Hmmm this doesn't seem to work on 2.71 SE-C, maybe I should go back to 1.5....

Anyway, I'll try it with IR Shell and then maybe it will work.

this one is not for 2.71 however there is a 2.71 port of devhook .51 for 2.71 se-c.

EDIT:
It's actually for hen-d user's that have a ta-082 and 2.71 firmware. however it should still work considering se-c can load homebrew thru either the 1.5 or 2.71 kernel.

Yeah it should work, but it shows up as corrupted data like the old version of IRSHELL used to.
