Ok, so I am backing up the DVD correctly and I know this for sure. However, when I play the burned DVD, it plays the files out of order. I use Nero and I've tried burning with "Create Data DVD" and "Create DVD Video." When the disc is burned I open it on my computer and it says all files are in order for example: VTS_01_0 , VTS_01_1 and so on... but then when I watch the movie it will start at a random spot and if I search to the next chapter it will go to the credits or previews or something weird. So all the files are mixed up and it is VERY annoying as you can imagine. Please help!

Have you tried backing up your DVD to ISO format? You said that you are using Nero. What version are you using? Also what type of media are you using +R or -R? Have you tried using Recode2 or is your Nero older than that?

No I do not have Recode 2 and I am using dual layer DVDs so I can put the whole movie on disc without any compression. What is ISO format? Thanks for replying.

I have read that Nero does not burn Dual Layer disk that well. Read this thread, maybe it will help. Click Here!

Oh, I forgot the other question that you asked. ISO is a way to save files to a disk operating system. It is just another way to store data on DVDs. I do not use it but some people do.

Using DVD Decrypter in iso mode (read iso to rip the original, then write iso to burn the copy) should enable you to write a good DL disk.
DVD Decrypter ISO settings should have 'create mds file' checked so that the layer break can be inserted properly.
DVD Shrink rebuilds the the files and is not a true copy of the original image.

Which version of Nero?
Nero6 has trouble with the layer break, which that is why nero7 was suppose to take care of.
DL backups, rip just like attar posted. Dvd decrypter/Mode/ISO read to the harddrive and remember where that movie goes onto your harddrive.
You can then insert blank dl/ click Mode/ISO write/locate that movie/click on the MDS files, not the ISO/open/OK and burn away.
Or you can use ImgBurn just like dvd decrypter's ISO write mode. Locate that MDS file/Open/OK and burn away.
Dvd decrypter and Img burn is the route I take, and a near perfect DL copy in well under an hour at a 2.4x burn.
Dvd decrypter can't handle some of the newer releases, but most of them. I use AnyDVD by slysoft with those tougher encryptions: Sony/Columbia
HP a1118x-b/athlon 64-3300+/BenQ 1650 BCDC/LG 8163B/Modded Wii/Epson-R300 and Ty Watershields!!!

Do you need to create the separate "Video_TS" and "Audio_TS" folders when shrinking because my DVD Shrink does not give me that option for some reason. Im using DVD Shrink v3.2.0.15 and Nero 6.

No, you just need to create a Folder and a sub called VIDEO_TS <=== yes, exactly like this. Let say PIRATES OF CARIBBEAN 2 is the movie you're trying transcode and backup, simply go to your HD and manually create a Folder name: PIRATES OF CARIBBEAN 2 and a sub folder called VIDEO_TS
Example: C:\PIRATES OF CARIBBEAN 2\VIDEO_TS
Now have DVD Shrink set your "Select Target Backup" to Create DVD files: Hard Disk Folder, then use the Browse button to navigate and locate your created folder: C:\PIRATES OF CARIBBEAN 2\VIDEO_TS
Once DVD Shrink is done transcoding, fire up Nero Burning and navigate to your folder "C:\PIRATES OF CARIBBEAN 2\VIDEO_TS", then just burn the VIDEO_TS folder.
<<< Burning the VIDEO_TS file with Nero Burning Rom >>>

NOTE: make sure you have a high quality media inside your burner ready.
