I have a Philips HTS6500 Home theater system, and want to hook this up to my TV and my PS3. I want to hear my PS3 and my cable channels in the home theater. My TV is a LCD 26PF5321D/37 and want the best connection. What wires should I get, and how should it be set up.

Do you use a cable box, for HD channels, and/or premium channels (HBO, Showtime, Starz, etc.)? If it's a digital cable box, you'll want to use HDMI (if tv has HDMI input), or component cables for video, and digital coax or optical cable for audio. You may need to go into cable box's settings, to enable digital output, for audio (and video, if using HDMI). If you don't have a digital cable box, the best you'll get is simulated surround, with Dolby Pro Logic setting on receiver, for tv programs.

If your receiver has HDMI inputs and outputs, you can go to receiver first, from equipment, then out to tv with an HDMI cable. If receiver doesn't have HDMI, use HDMI cable straight to tv, for video, and digital coax or optical cable to receiver, for surround audio.

If no HDMI is used, you'll want to use component cables for video, and still use digital coax or optical, for audio, on tv and ps3. You may also need to go into the ps3's settings to enable digital output. Set audio output to "Bitstream", and not PCM.

You'll need to set the tv's input to Video 1 or Video 2, depending on which input is used in the tv.
