DVD FAB DECRYPTERAND DVD SHRINK

how long should dvd fab and DVD Shrink take? when i try to backup a movie, dvdfab decrypter takes almost an hour to do its thing. then, DVD Shrink takes another 40 minutes to do its thing. What can i do to speed this up? its funnybecause the actual burn only takes 8 minutes. thanks for the help.

Sounds like you're having DMA issue. DVDFab Decrypter should only take "15 - 18 minutes" to rip any DVDs to the hard drive. DVD Shrink can take anywhere from 25 - 90 minutes depends on the "quality settings" (i.e. DA + AEC + Max Smooth/Sharp), but if you didn't use them, DVD Shrink should be done within roughly 30 minutes.

Try this DMA guide to uninstall your drivers.

wouldnt it be based on the spped that the dvd rom on my computer reads the disc, because when i place the dvd i want backed up in my dvd burner..........dvd fab only take 10 minutes. it reads dvd's at 40x instead of my dvd rom which reads at 16x.

Nothing reads DVDs at 40x. Your burner probably reads CDs at 40x. The difference could be the drive's firmware. When DVD ripping started to get popular the MPAA convinced many manufacturers to lock the rip speed for DVD-Video to 2x. You may need to either get different (ie unofficial) firmware or use a different drive to rip. Some drives also have tricks that will unlock their rip speed when you put the DVD in. My first burner (a Pioneer 2x) would rip at full speed if you ejected the disc just as it was starting to read and then loaded it again. Unfortunately that was still only 4x on that drive. OTOH My Lite-On DVD-ROM will rip dual layer discs at up to around 8x - 10x and single layer discs get all the way up to 15x - 16x.

Where exactly is the setting for DMA for your cd rom drive?? I have a memorex double layer DVD/RW reads at 16X.
Thx..

BTW - i went into control panel and properties of the dvd-rom drive. i didn't see it.

Nevermind i just saw the link a few posts up.. dma guide..thx.
