i dont think you can find a 26" lcd with 1080p the lowest i think i seen is a 37" with 1080p. i recently bought a samsung 32" lcd for 900 which is pretty good. it can take 720p and 1080i. if your planning to get a HDTV, you probley have to spend atless 1300 for a good 720p unless you can find someone you can bargain with like i did. when i went to best buy, the lowest price i saw for a 1080p was like 2200. so its up to you.

Yeah if you are going for something that size, you don't even need 1080p. You must remember that these higher def settings are intended for bigger screens. The difference will be noticable on a smaller screen but barely...hardly comparable to what you'll notice on a really large screen.
IMO, save yourself the effort and money by getting a standard 1080i HDTV. I was looking at a 27" (i think it was) from vizio w/ 2 hdmi slots both hdcp compliant that was ~$600. When you have more money and have the real-estate to hook one up, go for a 40+" TV that supports 1080p.

i think you will have to go lcd do to the size requirement that you are looking for. if you had more depth you could go to a crt hd set for around 500 or less now with 1080i thats what i use for gaming. when i bought it in may, they had just started to come out with new plasma panels that are extremly burn in resistant, comparible to crt. my next gaming tv will most likely be plasma, but maybe laser will be out by then. look here and dont forget component cables can now handle 1080p

I got a 42in plasma, played my 360 on it the first hour I got it and it burned the image in! It was a samsung, I don't even remember the model number! I then packed it up and took it back to best buy the same day returned it and got a 60in CRT 1080p!
I wont buy a Plasma for a few years now until I know that they are fixed and will last!

How about this tv may be you can take of the spekares and put them seperate from the tv set

You can't take off the speakers on Hardly any TVs anymore! I can tell you you can't take the speakers off either of those TVs easily!
With enough inginuity (in this case a chainsaw), any television's speakers can come off 8Þ.
@Cashman
Can you take it off the shelf and hang it on a wall near it? That's always been the best option in cases I've dealt with, so long as you get good mounting brackets.

I find it amazing that Sony is selling the PS3 as a 1080p system yet when people go out and find a HDTV in 1080p the price is too expensive and settle for 720p. Sony is full of crap and to really stick it to you they dont even supply the HDMI cable to connect the darn thing to your HDTV. What a joke.
Lets see... Hollywood already agreed that 720p is the standard, HD DVD is cheaper, etc.
What is Sony thinking?? Please tell me.
