So sad, my PS3 died! :-(

As some may or may not know the PS3 will not start without the Hard Drive, It is just like a PC! I was downloading a game demo when my power went out for about 5 seconds, wich corupted the Hard Drive! When I rebooted the system it asked me to restore my Hard Drive, so I pressed "X" to start the restore! About 30 seconds into the Restore my power went out again for about 5 seconds (I guess thats what happens when you have freezing rain) So I rebotted the system again and was prompted to do the same thing, this time my power stayed on threw the whole restore!
The system then told me to press "X" to reboot, so I did! It gets to passed the Sony Computer screen and freezes, just like it dose without the Hard Drive! I was able to comfirm that my Hard Drive had died when I connected it to my PC! I contacted the store where I purchesed it to see If they had any more in stock, theu had ONE! I then asked them to hold it for me!
I will soon post a video of what the system dose!
So people now know if it is the Hard Drive that is dead or the system itself!

yea, your not the first person i've seen who has had problems after having the power go out while updating, and now apparantly in the middle of downloading a demo. sorry to hear about the system, hopefully things work out for the better.

Well, I am lucky the store had one lest! I think it killed it when the power went out the second time during the restore!

That's one thing I can say about you domreis you aren't bias, lol. On the other hand it wasn't yours or sonys fault for that to happen on the ps3, its all about the power going out especially when downloading something (upadte or firmware) but hey you can control that and glad you got another one.
Ps how you get you power supply from Ms soon I'll have you in the friends list as soon as I get set up xbl, but will have you on ps3 for now.

Thanks, I bet it will be another 3 weeks till I get my 360 back up and runing! Damn microsoft! I get my new PS3 tomarow! I will PM you my Network ID! I feel it i my fault cause I knew some joe smo was gonna slide into a telaphone pole because of the freezing rain and should have waghited, but oh well whats done is done and I don't care because I am geting a replacement promptly, unlike my 360!

Thats sucks. And it really sucks that you had your 360 and ps3 die, if i read you last post correctly. This may have benn answered before, but cant you just put another aftermarket HD in it after it bricks? Also, can you low level format the PS3s factory drive?
Sry if these have been asked before, this thread look apropreate since your kinda dealing with this hands on.

Ya I have a battery backup to mine. Its just like saving onto the hard drive and it saying dont shut off while its saving. Hmm now that i think of it i thought my ps3 was messed with the lines and sound thing. $ony was going to send me a package thing to send mine and an email. Been 2 weeks and havent gotten ne thing ps3 fine but hmm.
In fact I think we would be fooling our selves if we have a community this large, and did not realize that there are some enemies present. |

my ps3 was bricked so i called sony bitched got some goodies and they sent the box the me the next day adn the whole thing would take 3-5 days if past 10 they garentee some sort of "gift for the wait"

Yea, I have it on a surg protector, and yes my XBOX360 power supply is dead too! I am geting a new one form the store today! Some Jrunk Driver Hit a telaphone pole!

I did profit off this! My electric bill is about $105 a mounth! I get $630 of electricity for free! I even was able to return my PS3 and buy it from a store that had some!

I called and told them the story just to see what they would do and I was bored and they asked how much it costed and he said ok, he will credit our bill for 6 mounth!
