hi i live in the uk and have a jap ps3 and why question is how long will the games stay region free i now it is supposed to be permant but i just have my suspicions this would be terrible if they did region lock because i live in the uk and only understand english and buy all my games as us ones

hey guys got this off the Hong Kong Sony FAQ PS3 site

Can PLAYSTATION®3 sold in Hong Kong play PAL content?A:PLAYSTATION®3 sold in Hong Kong can play only NTSC (60i)
content at this moment. This means 50i AVCHD content
(recorded by video camera) and PAL DVD (SD) cannot be played.
These contents are now planned to become playable through
system update, which is planned to be released on 2007 spring

If they were doing this then I think your concern over region free is a non event, in other words those of us that live in PAL regions and have NTSC units are not going to have a prob here.
