The big question really is WHEN will ps3 be chipped so it can play backed up games and backed up blue-ray disks? How long will it take for our CHINA BOYZ to do this!? How much would these BACKED-UP games cost? Will these games work ONLINE? cause i own a ps2 and i have backed up game and the games dont work when i try to play online! Heck i even tried NFL street 3 ORIGINAL and that didnt work ;)

Ofcoarse it`ll be modded !!! but might be along time but sometime the playstation3 will be chipped.
just like all the other consoles that read disks !

I think it would take either a really long time (like atleast 2-3 years) for the ps3 to be chipped or it won't happen. Because of the updates, chipping it wouldn't be a good idea. The only thing that u can look forward to is that Microsoft will have enough money to make chips unofficially and release it underground to screw sony over. I would expect something like that to happen.

I think kenio8185 has a very good point as microsoft has a serious competitor in sony there is a perfectly good chance money and multiple ps3 consoles will lend up in the hands of hackers in the forefront of modifications! it may sound silly but it is a huge industry and anything you can do to get the upperhand on a competitor is worth it!

I feel, that it wont be the matter of being chiped, but the matter of being able to store games on your HDD and boot them from their, just like on the PSP! I bet that is what will happen first because Blu-ray burners are 1000 bucks right now!

yes that is very true and what i really meant was the ability to boot backed up games whether it be from a disk or hard drive!

With maybe about 5 games able to fit on the PS3 HDD, you can?t really use this as a permanent storage for games. I figure until Blu-ray burners and Blu-ray media is cheaper, you could download the back-ups off the internet (using news groups is the only viable way to go wth these file sizes) in WinRAR format, and burn these files spreaded over 2 or 3 DVD DL disks (8-20 gigs per game is lot of memory to let sit permanently on any HDD). You can extract the iso?s and stream the games to the PS3 or delete them from the PS3 as needed without taking up a lot of memory saving games to HDD?s. When something like this is capable, that?s when I will get a PS3. In the meantime, I will be enjoying playing back-ups on my freshly modded Xbox 360.

Yeah, if you have that kind of memory available, but most people I know and are on these forums don't have that type of memory and are also too cheap to shell out 300 or so bucks for another HDD.....

GOOD NEWS EVERYONE.
If you download a paradox playstation 3 game that is under 8gb you can burn it to either a DVD-R or a DVD-DL and guess what , IT WILL PLAY WITH NO CHIP !
I have seen this on another thread now. So i downloaded a game (fight night round 3) it was only 3gb. i burned it onto dvd and booted like an orignal !.
NO PROBS !
paradox says, he has managed to do something to the files to make it play. which worked. he also stated , if you burn it onto BLUERAY it will not play !
GOOD NEWS.BACKUPS ARE NOW PLAYABLE ON DVD

you just unrar the rar files when its downloaded then burn to DVD-R using DVD Decrypter.

Ok, so you download the iso, or emu, you don't rip it off a disk like the 360, ok, that wil be easy, just like the PSP!
