Ok all ive been burning forawhile with this combo, but do run into some movies that dont want to burn this way, so was wondering if it's the programs or the way im doing it

my computer has 2 dvd drives
I open shrink, click open up movie it does it's analysis, then i go thru and take off all the non english stuff on the movie, then click backup and select destination to my other dvd drive which is the burner, and it burns it to the dvd, makes a temp file on computer that gets replaced with each movie burnt. we have dvdshrink 3.2.0.15 and Nero Start Smart (forget which version)

Well like ive said ive had a few chunks of movies not burn, and a few friends that say they have used things such as 1clickdvd, or AnyDVD and clone dvd, that sometimes they have burned movies. Of course those are programs have to buy, and the Wife is trained really well with this setup but she of course wants to make copies of some of these other movies. Don't really want to have to add alot of extras if can avoid it to start getting these other movies to burn. So any help would be appreciated with this.

Movies we can remember that didn't burn, help please
Final Destination 3
Pirates of Cariabean 2
DaVinchi Code
Taladega Nights
Grumpier Old Men
Step Up
Stick It
Stay Alive
An American Haunting
High School Musical
Click
Hitch
Monster House
Fast And Furious Tokeyo Drift
Far From Home Adventures of Yellow Dog
The Wedding Date
Glory Road
The Pink Panter
Blues Brothers 2000

This is all we can think of @ the moment, also what do you all do for stuff like saprano's sereis and other series of shows, thought each one of those disc's are over 3 hours? could be wrong don't remember as typing this out..

You're more than likely not doing anything wrong, if you're just using DVD Shrink to rip with you're bound to run into trouble. Shrink alone won't be able to backup some (if not most) of the newer movie releases, it's going to need alittle help. AnyDVD is great and it's mainly what I use now, but it's not free, if you want to keep it free then I suggest you try:

DVDFab decrypter or Ripit4me

DVDFab
http://www.dvdfab.com/mlink/download.php?g=DECRYPTER

DVDFab decrypter will rip the whole movie or just the main title to your hard drive, then you can open the ripped files using shrink and have it autoburn to disk using Nero.

Note: Sometimes shrink will not open the files created by DVDFab, in this case try processing them thru VobBlanker first then use the shrink/nero combo.

Vobblanker
http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/VobBlanker/VobBlanker_2120_exe.zip

Ripit4me
http://www.ripit4me.org/

Ripit4me uses the dvd decrypter/shrink/FixVTS trio in a one click mode to make a backup, takes a little time to setup, but once it's done it's easy to use. The link above has all the info you'll need along with guides.

I mainly use AnyDVD with clonedvd2 or AnyDVD with Nero recode, but the apps mentioned above should produce the results you're looking for when used properly.

If you want to give AnyDVD a try it comes with a 21 day free trial, just install it and use the combo you mention without having to change anything. The link is provided below.

Here's a list of problematic encryptions that DVD Shrink can't handle. Scroll half way down for that list:

http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=48842

Sounds like you have DVD Shrink and autoburn with Nero, just like myself. Some people aren't as relunctant to switch processes. You can use AnyDVD in the background,no extra step, and use your normal/comfortable setup.

When it's activated, you'll see the little red fox icon in your lower right corner. See the red fox, then she's on and nothing else to do but your normal process. Your wife will love it.

Quite a few of those movies you listed,I had trouble with. I keep AnyDVD disabled-until the need arrises. Usually I get errors like:
1)Invallid navigation error
2)CRC
3)Shrink freezing up,then getting an error from windows-asking to send report.
4)And another error dealing with encryption.

Some people do have trouble when ripping movies that don't need the help of AnyDVD. DVD Shrink will do most dvds, except for the latest columbia, sony, pixar, and disney. That is why I leave mine disabled with a simple: Cursor over the red fox icon, rightclick, disable.Same for turning it on,except it'll say enable.

Anydvd also sets drives to region free, rips cd encryptions, and has a ripping feature now. It's updated very regularly.

RipIt4Me which uses DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter, and FixVTS does almost all the releases. There's a few folks with early versions of Saw3 having some problems with all the decryption software, but that should be worked out soon. It's completely free. http://www.ripit4me.org/
DVDFab Decrypter is also a good freeware decrypter. So at those prices, there's no reason not to own all that software. I've had AnyDVD for a long time and it does a good job and usually gets updated as needed faster than the others. It's $44.

To figure it out I went out and got Talladega Nights. I think Will Ferrell is funny anyway, so no loss. I was going to get it later.

The new AnyDVD 1.6.0.7 wouldn't do it. I haven't tried the latest DVDFab Decrypter yet. With RipIt4Me, I got a successful rip. The movie is full of protection and there's a batch of little VTS. Look at all the stuff that got removed. On top of everything else the protection leaves DVD compliance problems after the files are ripped. In the process I noticed VTS 38 and 39 were unreferenced and bogus. Those were removed. Then FixVTS processed and Shrink was able to process it. Here's the log:

This is all we can think of @ the moment, also what do you all do for stuff like saprano's sereis and other series of shows, thought each one of those disc's are over 3 hours? could be wrong don't remember as typing this out..

For high compression it's hard to beat Rebuilder. Shrink with the Quality Settings in use does a decent job. Since I have it, I use Rebuilder Pro with CCE. It takes longer, but I have a dual core system where I can be doing other things while encoding movies. It's hard to beat Shrink though for the price. ;)

I really appreciate everyones help thus far, been great, and good to know there are ppl out there willing to help others. Main reason I make backups is due to having kids and you never know with dvd's scratches and ect.. So once again Thanks

Be sure to have the last versions of DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter loaded when you go to install the RI4M. Use the Installer and it loads FixVTS. Once that's done get the latest version of FixVTS (if they haven't updated the installer) and replace the older version in the RipIt4Me program folder. While there send a FixVTS shortcut to the Desktop so you can use it independently when you need it. I do a lot of rips with AnyDVD and DVD Decrypter and process with FixVTS.

ok folks right now i have dvdfab, dvdshrink, Nero, ripit4me, and Ive had a few problems with ripit4me not working @ all, but i did get dvdfab to work on employee of the month, when my normal dvdshrink/nero combo way i was doing before didn't work

SO really appreciate your help, next question is there a decryptor to work with ripit4me? each one i click on i a cost one?

thanks

Decryption is what RI4M is all about.

RipIt4Me is a software package intended to work together. RI4M plays its part, but it is set to work with DVD Decrypter with PSL (Protected Sector List) files. No Decrypter, no program setup. FixVTS and DVD Shrink are also important. If you want RipIt4Me, you've got to load the entire set of programs (and in the order suggested). Once you get your decrypted and cleaned files, then use whatever you want to transcode and burn. The included Shrink and Decrypter do a good job for that though.

The key is keeping the software updated to take care of newer protections.

Nothing wrong with that. Be sure to keep up with the DVDIdle updates on the DVDFab Decrypter. Do you have the 3060 Beta yet? The 3.0.5.5 is good enough unless you're doing the very latest, like Saw 3 which is due out next week.
