Hi everyone. I know that this has been asked a number of times, but i'm also having a problem with eMule and lowid. I have gone through the help file on eDonkey, have read the tutorial here on the afterdawn forum (and followed its instructions), and have used many tips that i've read here and there. I'm running a Windows XP box, no ICS, no firewall (i've had it turned off trying to get eMule working), and to the best of my knowledge i'm not running behind a proxy server (have checked in LAN settings in IE6 and there is nothing there). I've also changed the TCP settings in eMule to no avail. Everytime I run the eDonkey connection tester, it gives me an error on whatever port i'm using at the time. However, if I set it to port 80 and retest, it times out. Any help would be appreciated at this point - this program looks to be a great deal better than Kazaa but if it doesn't work then i'll have to go back to Kazaa. THANKS!

1. Dont go back to Kazaa its not worth it... you may consider Overnet which is essentially like emule but without some of the lowid issues and such
2. Dont use port 80.... many ISPs dont like that and hence you will have issues with port 80
3. Although the answer is prolly no, are you running behind a router? If so you need to forward the ports to your computer or put yourself outside the router

I'll look into Overnet, but to answer you're question i'm not behind a router. The only thing between me and the outside world is my DSL "modem". I also checked a list a few days ago...can't remember what its called, but it had something to do with ISP's that were blocked. My IP address/ISP wasn't on the list (i'm using Qwest DSL with MSN as an ISP). Anyways, i'm still getting a lowid, but seems to be working alright other than that. Thanks!
