Hi guys, I am still a little bit new with DVD recording, just burned my first backup of one of my movies and all went well. However looking to improve quality I found DVD Shrink and like the layout of the program sofar quite a lot, but is there also a possibility not to include certain parts of the original DVD, like the extra's in order to improve quality, or will this cause problems with the menu later on?
Thanks a lot for anwers
J.

I'm not sure what you're asking, but I'll try to help. If you're talking about re-authoring the DVD, then you can select only the extras you want, but you will not have a menu at all. On normal encoding, you can't take out the extras completely. The best thing you can do is select the extras tab, and move the level of compression to "still pictures". You will still have the extras, but the size will reduce dramatically. Then move the level of compression up on the "Main Movie" until the bar on the top has no red at all. If you have to go past level 4, I'd try compressing the menu also. Compress the main movie at level 6 maximum. You start really losing quality if you compress it any more. If it still won't fit, you'll have to re-author. You'll get no menus, but most likely all of the extras, at the end of the DVD.

There are no levels (level 4) on the new DVD Shrink Beta 3.0/ Its now a slide bar for selecting compression in increments of 1%

Sorry about that. Since there is no level , and just a bar, think of each 5% a level. So 5% is Level 1, 10 % is level 2, 15% is level 3, and so on... Use these measurements instead of levels. Sorry!

Amazing, I signed in to ask virtually the same question as the original, and there it was top of the list!!
Anyway, out of interest, how come DVD Shrink doesnt let you totally delete things like extras? I got 121 meg of fully compressed extras, without which I could move up a compression level. In this situation, would it be better to use something like DVD2One and do the whole thing in one go? Ive never used it before and was wondering what sort of picture quality was returned.
Cheers chaps
Its a small world, but I wouldn't want to paint it...

How would you go about deleting the extras in re-author mode?

On normal encoding, I selected the extras for "still pictures". When I tried to play the movie, I chose "play movie" in the menu and the extras came out and only pictures. How do I burn The movie and the menu only? usually I burned the whole VIDEO_TS folder. I'm using Record Now. Thanks.
