whats a psp camera? i know firmware 3.03 has the camera option but ive never seen a psp camera. please upload pics

It's 1.3 Mega Pixel. Bad quality if your ask me but it's only ~$50. It's not very good in low light conditions. Video captures takes up 45mb/sec because the audio is uncompressed PCM.

The camera has good quality. It doesnt do too well in low light I agree on that. And it does not take 45mb a second.

I think it is very useful having it. For now they just have pictures and video. There is no video chat or anything.

I guess if you dont have a good new mobile then this would be useful, coz most of the new mobiles have very good cams... and much better than a 1.3m pixex...imho

Honestly its weird to me, its 1.3mp yet when my friends take pictures with there higher mp camera phones the quality is worse. This camera is outstanding.

never know when you need a camera!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My psp had internal error and never could use wireless connection,called sony day before warranty NEW ONE IN THE MAIL BOX IN 7 DAYS ^^

Yeah, I have 1.8 MP camera and the PSP camera is 1.3 but when I compare the pictures the PSP is better. It's probably because we have bad lenses.

So a quick question.
Since you order these things from Japan, are they fully compatible with English PSPs and so on?
And also, does the camera use up alot of battery and how much video could you record onto say a blank 1Gb memory stick.

If you order it yes it works with the US PSPs. And since on the XMB it has PSP camera you dont need to use the Japanese UMD software, unless you want to edit some things. I really dont know how much you can record on the 1gb. You can record as long as you want if you have the memory space. The camera is great. It doesnt seem to use too much battery. I couldnt exactly tell you how much it uses.

ei, i saw a psp cam that w/ a non japanese manual. and it doesn't seemed like the choto shot and the fw that is compatible is just 2.8 or higher. but it costs for some $60+, but they have the same specs as the choto shot.

^no, i personally saw the product myself in a store here. too bad i didn't have the money but i'm still saving for it. anyway, i'm gonna get a screenshot of it then post it here. the box is way too different from the choto shot, coz it's green w/ no japanese writings on it. :)

Hi people.
The camera works on all PSPs. I ordered one from Japan and Im using a UK PSP. Everything works fine, except that I can't read the Japanese text when running the editing software on the UMD.
What you get in the box is the camera itself, a small plastic case for it, the manuals in all languages (including english!) and the editing software.
Takes a while to save pictures onto the memory stick though. (Even though I'm using a Sony High Speed one)...

How good is the video capture quality? What format are the videos stored as and at what bit rate?
