Nice to see that the cell was not all hype like the M$Fanboys claim.

Microsoft: Ps3 cant do 60fps on 1080p. Guess what they were WRONG!!!!!
(11/19/05 - 9/19/06) Microsoft: Sony's 1080p support on PS3 is all Hype and Not Needed.
(9/20/06) Microsoft: Xbox 360 to add 1080p support.

Very Cool, I remember a thread earlier that said the developers of Oblivion were having some difficulties with load times and such. So lets see if this trend continues

I have no Idea Why my Sig does not work, If you have a solution please message me

but didnt you hear to make this game they had to clone the same game data all over the 25GB BD disc so the load times can even compete with the current standards on 360 and PC.

as 1 of the developer said: It's not the size that counts when it comes to loading time its the read speed.

and 1X or 2X BD read data transfer > 1X 2X DVD read data transfer.
BUT
1X or 2X ps3 BD Drive Read data transfer < 12X 16X 360 DVD read data transfer

so dont be a fanboiing.

BurningAs: since you didnt read that linked article, im gonna explain it to you. first off, ign says that the load times are about twice as fast on ps3. and second, your "1X/2X" thoery doesnt work too well because "X" isn't a universal measurement. the max. data transfer rate for Blu-ray is 54.0 Mb/s, while the 360's transfer rate is 15 MB/s and HD-DVD only being 36.55 Mbit/s. in other words, BD 2X and DVD 2X are no where near the same, and BD being way faster.
Edit: i got this data from wiki and some of the source's that it gives.
and please, next time know what you're talking about before you post.

Also you got to look at the storage on each disc.A blue laser is reading far more data than a red laser on a DVD-9 media.Plus if you did your research you would know that the PS3 is design to store each game data on the PS3 HD to make read time even faster. Some 360 games still suffer from long load times PS3 has yet to have this issue.

The (maximum) data transfer rate for a 2x Blu-ray drive (ps3) is 9 MB/sec
The (maximum) data transfer rate for a 12x DVD drive (360) is 16 MB/sec

However, the loading times for obvivion are clearly stated to be less than the 360 build, so what is the argument about?
Good to see the devs not slacking off on the ps3 version.

i have been in the optics scene longer than you no doubt, i just tried to but it in dumbass terms so people like you can understand. what do i get? smartass remarks back at me.
watch your self.

right now ps3 1X 2X drive just doesnt cut it but loads twice as fast? like i said same data has to be cloned at mutiple sectors to get good load times.

theres no arguement, but oofRome: where are you getting your info about the ps3 drive being 9mb/s? I'm curious because i couldn't find anywhere that said straight up what speed the rom in the ps3 is.

The issue here is load times. You really didn't listen the PS3 can get the data faster because of data being stored on the PS3 HD so the PS3 dont process data as slow as you think. So whats your point this don't prove that 360 load times are faster which they are not.

BurningAs that was completely uncalled for, especially because i was NOT being a smartass, at least that was not my intentions.
and in advance to what Bobby said:
"The 1X data transfer rate for Blu-ray Disc is 36Mbps for data and 54Mbps for movies, as opposed to 11Mbps for 1X DVD (data), and 10Mbps for DVD-Video. HD DVD's data transfer rate is 36.55Mbps maximum for both movies and data."
http://www.gamepro.com/sony/ps3/games/features/89828.shtml

even tho i realize that the 360 uses DL dvd, which seems to up the speed to 15 or 16 mb/s?, what am i missing here? please someone correct me with facts, because now I'm curious.

calm down kids. It's true that data can be copied on a BD thus making the load times faster... but that is an advantage of a BD over HD-DVD, not a disadvantage.

Besides, PS3 games will always have higher quality now since all games are using BD's, while the 360 is using regular game DVD's.

edgewise: maybe you're confusing bits and bytes.
The transfer rate for Blu-ray at speed 1x is 36 Mbps. (that's bits). The ps3's drive speed is 2x, which is 72Mbps. Take that divided by 8 (8 bits is a byte), and you get 9 MB/s.
DVD is also listed, so you could do the same thing if you wanted to to check my figures. DVD is rounded, I think.
http://www.blu-ray.com/faq/

I don't know about the official confirmation for the ps3's drive speed, but since you like wikipedia, I can tell you that it is right here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray_Disc

That has to be the most dumbass statement i've ever seen -_- .
So all ps3 games are going to be higher quality cos they are on a blue-ray disc O_o, ROTFL .

SovMish,
What I think he meant to say is that for games the medium is irrelevant. It is only data on game disks.

Consider saving a MS Word file onto a CD-R disc, a CD-RW disc, and a floppy disk. It's going to be the exact file when you open it up, no matter what you saved it on.

Same principal here.

I guess i could of put it like that :).

In the end it's down to the developers about the quality of the game, not what media the game is on.

I didn't mean the game quality (good or bad), I meant technical quality like hi-res textures and the likes.

I know what you meant, but the game is still going to be a data disc, and not a audio/video disc. Thus, the disk type is not important in terms of visual quality.

Exactly what oofRome said.

Even if the was a game on ps3 that was on dvd and Blu-ray it would still look the exact same, the media it is on has nothing to do with it.
