So here's the problem, I tried burning the Guardian the other day the same way I've done it for hundreds of other movies- AnyDVD and Shrink. After going through the initial stuff with shrink, the encoding window popped up and it was only going at around 4-5 kb/sec and was giving me a time of 500+ hours to finish the job. I tried several times and got the same results, except that the program would not respond when I closed the encoding window. The same thing happened again this evening while trying to burn Hollywoodland. Normally, my movies finish within 30 min. to an hour (max). I've got the most up to date version of AnyDVD and shrink, I even tried reinstalling the latter. Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!
OK, here's a little story. AnyDVD and Shrink used to be great friends. They have had a kind of falling out. Some of the newer stuff will only work right with AnyDVD and CloneDVD2, another piece of pay software. It seems that AnyDVD can not license fixvts anymore (a freebie included with ripit4me)
But fret not there is a great free solution that uses fixvts called ripit4me..
You can read the use and install instructions here: http://www.ripit4me.org/guide.html (I really recommend reading this you will learn a lot but here is the shortie install instructions)
A. If you did not have shrink installed, you would have to now, but you do!
B. Go to http://www.mrbass.org/dvdrip/ and download SetupDVDDecrypter_3.5.4.0.exe [879KB] Install this file before you proceed.
E. Double click on the RipIt4Me.zip file to unpack it. Leave it.
F. Double click on the Ripit4me installer.exe file and follow the on-screen instructions.
This will put everything in the right place and you are good to go. I recommend using the one click mode for everything until you are familiar with the program. This mode will basically dump you into shrink and then you will proceed from there as you always have, but you will now have a good clean rip loaded into it.
