My system was workingfine and I was able to make a "back-up" copy of my dvd except I thot it was skipping to much when I played it on my dvd player and scrapped it. When I tried making my fresh "back-up" copy of my dvd it seemed to work fine except for when the dvd burner was writing the lead out. It now stops and ejects my new coaster and says the burn failed but the files were now ready for use with other software. Can anyone help me?? It was just working and now it's helping me start a coaster collection. Oh Ya, I also got this error message:

I have uninstalled Nero, and both DVD Shrink and dvdecrypter. I have made sure the primary is on dms 2.0, it tells me the secondary one is not applicable. I have uninstalled the IDE controllers and dvd/cd drives which went back after a reboot. I have also defraged my hard drive just befor I tried to make my "back-up" copy but it still only makes coasters. So PLEASE AND THANKS!!! can anybody help me, or offer advice, or point me in the rite areas to try and get this resolved=)

Hi kalinon

Even though the burn failed Shrink still saved the files to your hard drive. So you can just burn them w/ burning rom or express in Nero.
But try these suggestions 1st:

Nero API version: 6.0.0.0
Update Nero to 6.6.0.18 - the last version of Nero 6 to autoburn w/ Shrink. Here's the links:
Package 1
Package 2 (recode, vision etc)

Recorder: <SONY DVD RW DRU-720A> Version: JY02
Firmware can use an update - you're a bit behind. The latest is JY08.
This helps the drive with the correct write strategy of the media - esp newer media. May be playing a part in the skipping on the DVD player.

Burn process failed at 16.1x
Slow it down to 8x. May be another reason for skipping.

Give those a go and let us know.

This is probably why, ur firmware is extremely old, update with the link

Way too fast, i wouldn't try higher than 12x probably best is half the top rated speed, so 8x would good.

Thanks alot for the help with this!!! Yepp it's doing what it's suppose to now, which is AWESOME!!! I started off by updating the firmware for my sony device by getting the files and that went smoothly. I also went and got the 2 packages for Nero and went the route of getting everything ready for DVD Shrink. I am too scared to make more coasters by using DVD Shrink alone ane let it do its thing and burn the dvd at the same time so I told it to save to the hard drive instead of my dvd drive and used Nero to burn the "back-up" copy. I also slowed it down from 16x to 8x and I haven't noticed any skipping...yet=). Again I have to say thank-you binky7 and 300 bowler for the help and advice with this matter!!!

I 2nd what 300bowler said ;)

Glad they did the trick.

You can try autoburning with Shrink & Nero if you'd like to give it a shot. When you click back up click on the burn settings tab to reduce the speed.

Happy Burning
