dude there is like no chance of bricking your ps3 with any hax or ne thing as of now. The only way to brick is unplug or lose power when ur ps3 is updating.
In fact I think we would be fooling our selves if we have a community this large, and did not realize that there are some enemies present. |

It does it automaticly when you buy a new game ( i think ). Also im getting Fall of Man and Oblivion.

Brick is the slang term for an electronic device which cannot function (or has been rendered useless by damaged firmware). This comes from the fact that the device in question can be considered only as useful as a brick, and little else.

You do not have to update the firmwire EVER, unless you want to go online...but then again there is a way to bypass the firmwire check so you can go online with a older FW, but don't ask me how to do it. search for it.

as far as i know, there aren't any games like that. I've never even heard publishers or sony or anyone say that games will do that.

Resistance and call of duty 3 :-D being a shoot em up fan and a blue tooth headset wouldn't go amiss!

resistance doesn't support bluetooth headsets (im pretty sure)

As for games not letting you play them without an update. Just think about the psp. I have nba street home court for ps3 that I can't play unless I go up to 1.5 which I am not going to do.

Well I had to buy my own. I wish my parents could atleast afford to buy me a Nintendo. If the PS3 came out when I was a child, I wouldnt have one.
But I would just rent from Block buster and keep the game until they want you to purchase it.You will have plenty of time to try it out. They charge you a $1.00 restocking fee when you bring the game back and you have an option of purchasing it. I tested Resistance out that way and ended up buying it cuz its supposedly the most popular online PS3 game out now.
That helped me out when I didnt know what to buy. That $65 isnt just something you can throw away on a game you may not play that much.
