I was just curious can a 250 gig seagate external hdd be used on the ps3. I pluged it into the usb, the ps3 seemed to acknowledge it by showing the spin loading icon thing but it never actually showed up. Do I have to do some kind of format like for the ps2?
PS can ps3 read DVD-RW? just wanted to know
Thanks in advance

Cavalry? I never heard of it. Maybe someone here has? Maybe it's a quality drive with the cavalry name (kinda like liteon drives with the sony name--liteons make superior DVD drives for computers).
Anyway, I know formatting drives to FAT is very simple. If it's external, it probably already is. I know some dude here just connected his 500 gig external to the PS3. That thread is still active.

I'm not sure as there are so many brands (Samsung, Hitachi, WD, Seagate & etc.). But from what I know Seagate have a longer warranty period compare to the rest (others: 3years, Seagate:5years). As for the price, the difference is negligible.
