Now that the current version of DVD Shrink is unable to shrink the new version dvd's that are out and there is no new version, what is now the best program to use in its place until a new version comes out?

Why is Shrink unable to shrink for you?
Maybe you mean unable to rip?
This program does Blood Diamond, Barnyard, Eragon and many other new releases.
Try Ripit4Me. This program will rip any DVD. When a movie can be ripped with just DVD_Shrink, a box will appear that will enable you to go straight to Shrink.

There won't be any new versions of shrink, the developers are (by law) not allowed to update the software to backup current movie releases, so shrink will remain unchanged as far as it's decrypting ability:(

There are two popular free alternatives:
-ripit4me (as mentioned by dialysis1)
-DVDFab decrypter

Ripit4me has been sucessfully used by other members to backup just about any movie, it uses DVD shrink/DVD decrypter/and FixVTS in a 1 click mode to backup any movie once setup.

DVDFab decrypter is also very good, it will do a full movie or just a main movie backup, if the file size to greater than can fit onto a single layer disk, the ripped files (on your hard drive) can be opened and processed by DVD Shrink then burned to disk using your app of choice.

AnyDVD can be used with any of the software mentioned except DVDFab Platinum, DVDFab Platinum (and DVDFab decrypter mentioned above)comes with its own decrypter that will conflict with AnyDVD.
